What if the 3 that voted for Sheed and the 2 that voted for Sabas would vote for LA rather than Luke. But, in a runoff between LA and Sheed, Sheed wins. You would be deciding the outcome of the vote by procedure rather than democratically.

Lamarcus Aldridge. 4 time all star, that's one trip for every year that Lucas was a Blazer. Lucas wasn't on the team long enough for me to put him over LMA. Aldridge's numbers were better than Rasheed's AND he was a better person, he didn't perpetually embarrass the franchise the way Rasheed did. Really, LMA should have been #3 and he would have been pretty easily if he'd re-signed, but people are bitter, so it is what it is. ANd of course like others have mentioned, he holds so many all time franchise records, had that monster series against Houston to carry us out of the first round for the first time in forever, etc.

This one is a very close one for me. I think Rasheed's superior playoff success carries the day,

I'd absolutely rank Rasheed's playoff accomplishments over Lucas's. He was a very good playoff Blazer for a very long time.

I don't think Lucas would be mentioned in a top 10 Blazer conversation but for Walton. When Lucas was the best Blazer, they made no noise at all and he was pretty bad individually as well.

OK, I can foresee this being an issue going forward where we have multiple candidates tied for the 2nd slot in the runoff.

What I propose is this:

Please indicate your order of preference for all candidates in the runoff. For example, you can vote like this:

1. Maurice Lucas
2. LaMarcus Aldridge
3. Rasheed Wallace

Votes for 1st place will earn 3 points, votes for 2nd place will earn 2 and votes for 3rd place will earn 1 point.

If you only vote for one candidate (say, Maurice Lucas), Lucas would receive your 3 points, and LMA and Sheed would get 1.5 points each.

Rasheed is my #1 choice. I don't have a #2 or #3, I'm just putting my 3 points to Rasheed.

Here's a cut & paste of my previously stated explanation:
Rasheed was our best player on the longest running great Blazer team. That should be a swaying argument for those that keep trumpeting longevity. He is the only "best player" from one of our 3 great teams that isn't already on the best player list. Everyone knows Rasheed was a talented offensive player so fans expected him to be a great offensive player, but Rasheed's best asset was his defense. He was the defensive anchor on a great team and that's saying something when you consider Pippen was his teammate. And, Rasheed was our anchor on offense as well but Rasheed always insisted on team basketball and that the offensive load be shared.

Greatest Blazers Ever: Vote for #5

Post#37 » by Moonbeam » Thu Aug 6, 2015 9:43 am

I think I'll go:

1. Sheed

2. LMA

3. Lucas

I worry I'm possibly understating Lucas, but I haven't been convinced that he was better than LMA, and he was a Blazer for less time.

Well, we have ourselves a tie:

Lucas: 35 points

3 points (x7): Wizenheimer, Masterfully, Oden2, DavidSterned, TheEnforcer20, zzaj
2 points (x1): Effigy
1.5 points (x6): a_sensei, portlandoden, Brandon-Clyde, d-train, red_power, rasta_marley
1 point (x3): JasonStern, Moonbeam, Agenda42

Wallace: 35 points

3 points (x6): Brandon-Clyde, d-train, Moonbeam, red_power, Agenda42, rasta_marley
2 points (x3): zzaj, JasonStern, Norm2953
1.5 points (x6): Wizenheimer, Masterfully, DavidSterned, TheEnforcer20, a_sensei, portlandoden
1 point (x2): Oden2, Effigy

Aldridge: 32 points

3 points (x4): a_sensei, portlandoden, JasonStern, Effigy
2 points (x3): Oden2, Moonbeam, Agenda42
1.5 points (x8): Wizenheimer, Masterfully, DavidSterned, TheEnforcer20, Brandon-Clyde, d-train, red_power, rasta_marley
1 point (x2): zzaj, Norm2953

The tiebreaker comes down to who was favored in direct comparisons between Lucas and Wallace, the most, and that is Maurice Lucas!

Lucas preferred:

Wizenheimer
Masterfully
Oden2
DavidSterned
TheEnforcer20
zzaj
Effigy
Norm2953

Wallace preferred:

JasonStern
Brandon-Clyde
d-train
Moonbeam
red_power
Agenda42
rasta_marley

By the narrowest of margins, the #5 slot goes to Maurice Lucas.
