Funny that Barkley would flip on this team so fast when he was one of the few national NBA guys that said the Blazers were the team that would come out of the west.

We don't have enough time to comeback in this one. Throw in the towel. Rest our starters for the next one.

Stotts did the subs thing but Rivers isn't falling for it. He's protecting his win.

Doc never subs out his starters unless its a lead of like 40+.

Blazers seemed to lose any momentum gained from that last game...perhaps having a couple days off, but most likely running into a much better team that is clicking on all cylinders.

The Clippers are likely the team to come out of the West in my book, so I expected a big loss. HOW the team lost is certainly concerning...continuous ISO play is certainly not going to work against great teams.

It was funny hearing Webber low-key calling out Stotts in the 3rd quarter. He is an awwwful commentator, though...

The best show was after the game when Shaq got his bald head egged.

imagine Reggie Miller and Chris Webber working a game together. I'd gouge out my ears

Blazers are now 1-8 against teams with winning records and have lost 7 in a row

Last season the Blazers were number 2 (or was it three) in offensive rating. The shot quality difference between that season and this one is less than one percent. https://www.pbpstats.com/game-logs/nba/team?Season=2019-20&SeasonType=Regular%2BSeason&EntityId=1610612746

That was some ugly basketball. We have no one to match the energy of their hustle guys and our offensive sets consist of three letters. They are a much better team, with two players better than our best guy, but with ball movement and energy it should have been a lot closer. Disappointed in them after the energetic wins. They knew they were outmatched and curled into a ball once Harrell started to beast on us.

he was high on last year's team when Nurkic & Collins were healthy and Aminu/Harkless were defending the perimeter. And a different bench. Nurkic is out and a much different supporting cast this year

beside that, when he talks about 'breaking apart' the Blazers, I'm assuming he's not talking about players like Harkless, Turner, Bazemore, & Hezonja. Exchanging low-level role players at that level of a rotation doesn't change a team's trajectory, one way or the other. Probably talking about the core, and as far as I can tell, there are 3 members of the core: Dame-CJ-Nurk. I'm guessing that's where he's looking and a whole bunch of people in blazerland have been saying CJ needs to be traded for years now. I think the 'reality' that Dame and Melo, after 6 games, seem to have developed a better mesh, that Dame and CJ have after 350 games adds fuel to that. There was a lot of chatter and criticism on TNT last night about the Dame-CJ 'it's-my-turn-it's-your-turn-one-on-one' offense.

yeah, Harrell tore Portland apart last night with his energy and physicality. That's not new, he did the same thing to Zach last season, and there's no Aminu to slow him down even a little

Portland plays the Lakers twice this month. I have no clue how they are going to stop Anthony Davis. He's about 3 tiers better than Harrell. Melo vs AD....yikes!

Offense: Don't turn the ball over; get quality shots; MAKE quality shots; secure rebounds of your misses; and collect opportunities at the foul line.
Defense: Stop your opponent from doing the same.

Over the years and even in today's world more than one way exists for doing the above. I so tire of folks acting Gene Hackman in" Hoosiers" is the only way to realize the offensive objectives (despite a friend of mine who wrote the screenplay).

The backline defense was not helped out last night by the perimeter defense acting like turnstiles on drives down the chute. If you can't stop such, at least slow it down a little to give the backline a chance. I think Stotts inserted Tolliver for a brief time in hope that he could take a charge or two on such drives; but those drives were too fast for him to get in place. The irony of Portland's smallish guards is that they do well defensively when taken down low, but can't slow down drives. It should be the other way around.
