Yeah, I’m not inclined to have a freak out over it. This may be a good move, I’m just not at all familiar with this player... well see

Lol, you weren't "slamming" the move. Did you do that intentionally?

A bit of a reach back to ‘Plastic Man’ but maybe he’ll be Stacey Augmon 2.0

Guys at The Athletic have been all over DJJ as a steal of a MLE player for a while. I believe that Hollinger had his value at around 14 million per year.

That wouldn't be bad. I still remember a game with the Lakers when Stacey was the third best SG that day. No, Kobe wasnt first or second, he was 4th. Rider and Wells were first and second. Such a great game!

OK after reading a lot about him I will recant a lot, we went for D and a very good slasher who we won't cringe at (like Aminu) when he drives to the basket. Combined with Roco our defense will be a LOT better when he's s the floor, hopefully we can improve his 3pt shot like we did with Aminu who went from 28% (same as Jones) to 35% with us.

Portland was second to last in opponent 3pt made last year"

I think this is a bold move. Jones is an athletic freak and has the skill set to be a solid defender with a motor. The one glaring hole in his game is shooting and that is something that can be improved somewhat quickly with effort. Coaches need to help extend his limited range quickly so that Jones can be a positive for the post season. I remember Aminu got decent enough quickly enough and I hope Jones can do the same. If Jones can learn to shoot, we might be regretting not signing him to a longer deal. Also, this might not be a bad fit in the starting unit since Lillard, CJ, and RoCo are all proficient shooters who can space the floor for Jones.

He sounds like a good defensive player, might not be a bad move here and possibly a versatile 3 position player which is always nice to have

I do like that it’s a short deal, 4 years full mle would make me a tad bit frustrated but on a short deal I can live with it

I haven't heard decisively about his 2nd yr - is it a player option? or something else?

I’m guessing there’s an option as it seems like there often are on these 2 year deals but pure speculation on my part

Jae Crowder was just signed for 3/30 to Phoenix. I wonder if Olshey offered him our MLE? I think there's a good chance he'd perfer to come to Portland over Phoenix.

I do like all of Portland's move are short term for the team recognizes the Dame/CJ and soon to be Nurk
extension will hamstring the team's flexibility starting in 2023. One can see if GTJ, Roco, DJJ, Collins, etc
really blows up this upcoming season, the team moving on from CJ.

Meanwhile DJJ gives Portland their first above the basket, athlete in some time since perhaps Batum.

Simons says, Hello. He's pretty good at the aerial arts.
