If we trade CJ, we are still left with Lillard as our best player. It doesn't make anything better. All the problems of building a team around a scoring combo guard, with weak game management skills, are still our biggest obstacle to becoming a better team. The fact that CJ has all the same weaknesses when he plays PG, does not mean we can solve our problem by sacrificing our scoring guard.

This team can get better, but it's not going to happen until we have personnel that can help us with defending the paint. And, it's not going to happen on a night that we miss all our open shots.

Nurkic and Collins are the only players on our team that can improve our defense in the paint. Collins is out and Nurk is still working his way back from injuries. But, you can see better team defense when Nurk plays.

Giles has just been useless.


I never mind another 6'8 player who can play defense but I do think we also need another big behind Nurkic and Kanter, preferably someone who can cover for Melo defensively... it would have been real nice to keep Moses Brown around for a second year.

Giles has just been useless.

He has shown some talent and skills on offense. He has shown no aptitude for defense. He's not going to have a long career if he doesn't learn some love for defense. Today's NBA demands bigs play great team defense.
