The big problem with a coach like Lanning is that if he has success, SEC programs will come calling
for Nick Saban is 70 years old.
One interesting note with Lanning, Nick Saban's coaching staff in 2015 has now produced six head coaches
for Cristobal was on that staff along with Lanning and Georgia head coach Kirby Smart along with the head
coaches MSU, Mississippi and Florida.

Re: Oregon Football coach (OT)
If anyone is serious about following the coaching change, the Oregon Ducks twitter space has been insane the last couple of days. Everything from Lanning's brother confirming he interviewed and was a lead candidate to Akili Smith talking over everyone and being told by George Wrighster to "take his ball and go home". :'D
Time will tell if Lanning ends up being a great hire or not - it will likely depend heavily on the support staff he hires, but he certainly nailed the post-hire press conference. Likeable guy who makes me understand why he got the job. Whether he's still around in 4 years will remain to be seen - he's the fourth coach in a row that effectively said that the only way he'd leave Oregon is kicking and screaming. But it's better to have coaches that other programs are constantly trying to poach than to have a coach that nobody else wants.
Who knows if the Wilcox rumors are true or not? If they are, there almost certainly was other factors involved that are being left out - contract terms, requirements for the support staff, etc. But he managed to parlay the Oregon interview into a job extension. Same with Chip. Same with Sitake. Hell of a coincidence that every name leaked got an extension given how tight-lipped things were from the Oregon side.

Because love can burn like a cigarette.
And leave you left with nothing.
Leave you left with nothing.
And leave you left with nothing.
Leave you left with nothing.
