The ping pong balls always seem to bounce in a teams favor when they trade their star players too…

What could we get for the first pick in the draft?

IDK if a guy would be available worth moving Jabari or Chet for.

chet is at gonzaga and is 190 lbs. There’s basically a 1 percent chance he pans out

Totally disagree. Chet is a needle mover on defense and has insane fluidity. He is the closest body type to Durant to come into the league since Durant.

In the whole NCAA Chet is currently 7 in offensive rating, 1 in defensive rating, 1 in eFG, 9 in PER, 1 in WS48 and Box Plus/Minus (4th in OBPM, 2nd in DBPM)

He is a complete monster.

I don't always agree with BlazerBronco's takes especially on prospects but I 100% agree with this one. Chet (health willing) is an absolute freak. I don't love hyped thin Gonzaga centers as a rule but I see Chet as a PF in Portland next to Nurkic.

I’m not excited about a re inked nurk. Injury prone it’d be wasted money. But like everything i’m sure it’s appease dame even if we build a repeat of before with simons as the new cj appease dame appease dame...

As to chet i’ll admit i haven’t watched him at all just know his size and weight is all. I’d be willing to give him a shot especially if we are sitting at 5 not 1.

It depends what the cost is for Nurkic. I think 15M is possible. Maybe even less.

Dame / Simons / New Star / Chet / Nurkic is a team that can win a ring. But 'New Star' and 'Chet' are far from guaranteed. Still a better chance we go into 22/23 with a competitive team than before these moves IMO.

The bigger prospect is in the 2023 draft with the French big. There is video of him working out Gobert and he had his way with Holmgren for he's a year younger and 15 lbs heavier. Portland might be losing well into next year in order to get him

Wouldn’t it be nice to have a competent two way sf with the size, d, handles and shot to not be outclassed in every matchup?

Batum was the last time we had such a player

True.

But there some guys this year that might fill those shoes.

So far so good. Pelicans got beat 112-97 in CJ's first game

Banchero and Holmgren seem the most intriguing to me. I don't know why I assumed Jabari was more physical than he is, but I watched some highlights and he seems to lack much physicality. Holmgren does have that KD vibe to his game, but he needs years of adding muscle to his frame and I feel kind of snakebitten by high prospect centers.

CJ took 21 shots to Ingram's 12. I can live with this and encourage this type of play for the sake of us getting a second lottery pick.

How about the big SGs, though? There seem to be a good number of them shooting up the mock drafts. I haven't started looking into prospects yet, but I did just mention 2006 parallels in the NY game thread... could we find our next Brandon Roy?

Sharpe isn't undersized at all. He's 6'6 and was one of the top recruits of 2023, but reclassified and is at Kentucky now, joining late. He's eligible for the draft if he wants to join.

Size/two way game on the perimeter would be great.

There are some interesting prospects out there.

Sacramento won, San Antonio won (thus New Orleans lost), OKC & Clippers are in close games right now. BEsides our win it's been a real productive night for us in terms of the standings.
