Re: What kind of contract are you expecting Jerami Grant to get?
And Dennis Schroeder rejected an 84m/4 year deal only to scrape by with taxpayer midlevels and minimum contracts since.
Past offers are not a guarantee of future ones. It's all about current market conditions.
Are there other teams willing and capable of offering him 120/4 now?
Houston can if it strikes out on Harden, but there are better targets out there. Utah just got Collins. SA is too early in its rebuild to need a prime player. Detroit already had him, and gave him away for peanuts.
Indiana could clear up enough room, has a glaring need at PF, and might fancy themselves a competitive team. Would they throw that money at Jeremi, or say Kuzma?

4 years 120 is realistic and hopefully another team signs him for that because we are in a bind where we could piss off a major agency if we don't keep our word on that contract..

Detroit is a possibility for they could use some offensive firepower on a team that needs
offense.
offense.

Re: What kind of contract are you expecting Jerami Grant to get?
I am fine with $30 million per year as long as we can keep it to 4 years or less, I would love a team option for that 4th year.
I have a feeling we won't be that lucky though.

I wouldn't be surprised by this outcome, which would be gross.Goldbum wrote:5/150 and Cronin will be happy with it.
Learn from your mistakes regarding the Nurkic contract from last year Cronin.

Nurk is like 3M per year overpaid.
Grant at 30M is like 8+M per year overpaid.
Grant will get a grosser deal than Simons or Nurkic IMO.

Re: What kind of contract are you expecting Jerami Grant to get?
I would prefer to not have Dame, Grant or Nurkic on our roster when training camp starts. Just wanting to turn the page and start a new chapter. Just so tired of this same Dame drama year after year.
Either just take your money, accept whatever role Chauncey feels is best for the team as your game begins to decline, and be happy to comfortably slide into retirement with the Blazers knowing there's very little chance you will win a championship here... Or...
Decide a championship is worth chasing and provide "The list". Two teams is not enough IMO. Maybe there are a couple more now, who knows, but I 'd absolutely refuse to take a crap offer, even if Dame DEMANDS to go to only Miami, which I honestly don't think Dame would do. Surely there's enough mutual respect between Cronin and Dame.
One way or the other... I think we will know by Friday morning.

I don't see anything Dame has actually done besides say he wants to upgrade the roster, which is like duh.
It's like people take the words from the media's wild speculation and put them in Lillard's mouth and get mad at him for those words.
The cycle is tiring when everyone seems to jump right on board with it.

Yeah, hearing all these 'Austin Reeves is going to get $100 million and Cam Johnson is going to get $100 million makes me think there are some very stupid teams out there still, and not optimistic about what Grant gets. To be clear, I don't have a problem with him getting his money, I just don't want him to get his money HERE.

Re: What kind of contract are you expecting Jerami Grant to get?
It's a click bait world we live in, Cronin can't really play his hand yet because he is still awaiting the turn (Dame) and the river (Grant). He is in limbo until those 2 cards are revealed. Dame is the key to what he does with Grant.
Cronin could give up some young talent that could be critical to the rebuild to get aging vets and Dame could still bolt, setting the rebuild back significantly.
Cronins job is not just THIS YEAR, it's about the future also, in theory the next 10 years. Somebody questioned my comment that loyalty is a two way street, but Dame is putting himself ahead of the team by waiting to see what cake Cronin comes up with before he decides if he wants to eat it.
The team has proven it's loyalty to him by paying him that ridiculous extension, Dame owes the team a decision with FA starting very soon, because the future of the team and the direction it goes moving forward hinges on it.
If you want out, SAY IT!!! If you are committed to building with a young core SAY IT! Say it clearly either way and shut down all the nonsense, Dame is causing all this hourly speculation by being non committal and the other guys in the locker room see this crap also.
Be loyal to the team by commiting to one path or the other, because the next 10 years and how they proceed is based on you, you the greatest blazer of all time. Without a no trade clause, if you burn your bridges with Cronin you could end up somewhere you don't really want to be.

Regardless of what gets said in the media by Cronin, THIS is exacly how I too feel. S**T, or get off the pot!

The key point is that the Blazers were bidding against themself for Nurk.BlazersBroncos wrote:Dame Lizard wrote:I wouldn't be surprised by this outcome, which would be gross.Goldbum wrote:5/150 and Cronin will be happy with it.

Vucevic just signed for 3/60m. That's a lot better than Nurk's deal, primarily considering injury history.

Is Nurk's deal really that bad for he is Portland's only real rebounder and interior defender
and at $18 Million/season. I get the angst over Ant's contract but he's going to be 24 for
all of next season. Likely he'll get moved but I would not be surprised if he stays if Dame
gets traded, for he'd be the veteran back court member for Scoot/SS will make lots of
mistakes as they gain experience.
Has anyone noticed Spot Trac now has their version of the Real GM trade checker?

Re: What kind of contract are you expecting Jerami Grant to get?
Yeah, I think Nurk is overpaid way more than 3 mln per year. This dude's simply a liability on any deal well beyond MLE money because his durability issues make him too unreliable to be a starting piece. And now he's waaay too costly to view him as a backup.
The Blazers pretty much stuck themselves into a very bad situation by throwing that deal last year.

Josh Hart just picked up his $12.9 million option for 2023-24 so the Knicks would have more cap space to sign a free agent.
I'd much rather have Josh Hart at $12.9 million than Jerami Grant at $30+ million. At least Hart rebounds.
I assume this means the Knicks will offer him the 4-year/$80 million extension come August.
And, I'd still rather have Josh Hart at 5 years/$92.9 million than Jerami Grant at 5 years/$150+ million.

Josh Hart has exercised his $12. 9 million option for the 23-24 season with the New York Knicks.
Hart will be eligible for up to a four-year, $80 million extension beginning in August.

Hart is another guy that would be a great mentor for Sharpe. Although, I do see that as an issue getting Sharpe into the starting role.

Maybe the Blazers can try something astounding, and not pay him a pile more than he would get somewhere else? We'd also want his contract to be easy to move if Dame demands a trade.

Barnes just got extended for 54/3 or 18 per. About what I expected.
