Well, if the coming draft is really that bad as many pundits project then this trade makes a bit more sense as a bail out option. I can't say that giving up 3 likely crappy picks for a young improving guy is a bad idea but I'm not sure we won't regret about this trade in a few years.

Tbh, all of Olshey's acquisitions were mediocre injury prone role players approaching their 30s. I'm not sure that a direct comparison would be fair in this particular case. There is a solid chance Avdija becomes a better player in a few years than he's right now.

I'm actually okay with this deal. I think it's BlazersBroncos that really loves Deni, want to see his thoughts.

But I'm good with it. I'm a little worried it signals we aren't trading Ant, but I hope not. We really need to move Ant.

But Deni is on a really, really good contract for his production and having high-playing role players who are connector type pieces on great contracts is amazing for the future.

The comp was using multiple first rounders for a mid talent instead of stockpiling and making smart picks a la Boston or OKC, or making big swings like the Knicks or Suns with all the pick stash for a big deal.

Dipping into that piggy bank to patch your tire is just so stupid when the cars engine is shot.

I'm indifferent here, that 2029 pick could be costly but deni is on a value contract and washington seems upset about the trade so maybe it's not bad

Well, Blazers roster is already full of promising but not so great talents. Had we kept that no. 14 pick who you want that player to replace? Walker Murray Camara Banton Rupert Reath?

Wow what a great trade. Deni would be a top 5 prospect this year and he’s already developed heading in to year. Amazing contract basically what I wanted at the 7 pick with Matas.

You gotta think we only do this cause we know Clingan is there at 7 or we trade away Grant.

Scoot
Ant
Sharpe
Deni
DA

Super sub Dalton and Camara/ Time Lord whatever we get for Grant.

Tbh I think if healthy that’s a playoff team 8/9 man rotation.

I just want to remind everyone that we had three picks in 2029. Second most favorable mean it'll be the second best pick we have of the three. Hopefully we will be good by 2029. I'm guessing Boston is still going to be good in 2029. It's a chance Milwaukee will not be good in 2029, but that doesn't matter if Boston and we are good in 2029 because we'd keep Milwaukee's and give up our own or Boston's.

Like passing for sure on the player I'm obsessed with in Edey at 14 for a Yahtzee is just completely beyond my comprehension. I feel physically ill. In Portland of all places, this organization so tone deaf.

Was he really in the IDF? Damn.

Basketball-wise, I think it's a decent deal. DusterBuster makes a good argument about how to best spend draft capital, but Deni is still a young player with upside and a very moveable contract. He could very well still be a valuable trade piece if and when a bigger fish swims into the trade market. For the present? He improves the team's upside, probably without disrupting the tank. The Blazers paid a fair amount for him, IMO.

On a scale of 1-10 this is a 3.
Deni is a decent player and all. He has some upside on the offensive end and can play either SF or PF so he brings some versatility.
He is also on our timeline. Not the best defender though.
I can see Brogdon and the 14th- Fair trade. But man.....anything on top of that makes it a negative deal.

A couple things.

1. It isn't anti-Semitic to point out he served in the IDF and he's speaking about the war and the effects this war is having on people. Please don't report those types of psots as anti-Semitic.

2. But also, please keep all political and Palestine-Israel talk off this board and go to the current affairs forum. Thank you.

Tell me you know nothing about Israel without telling me you know nothing about Israel.

Deni is a good basketball player on one of the best contracts in the NBA. It's a 4 year descending contract that ends around 11 mil. We'll be paying him far below MLE money for basically his entire deal. And he's younger several prospects being discussed in THIS years draft. I seriously doubt there's anyone at 14 that would be as good as Avdija.

While he's a good player, I have mixed views.

I'd rather we traded even more draft capital to get a higher upside player.

While Avdija has a lot more upside than Larry Nance Jr and Robert Covington, two Avidja-like trades would have enough draft capital going out of Portland to secure a genuine All Star talent.

And All Star talent is what we need. Portland must think Avidja can become a borderline All Star player, along the lines of Danilo Gallinari.

For what it's worth, the General Board believes that Portland won this trade convincingly.

This throws my BPA for #8 out the door somewhat. Really depends who the wing is I guess, but Avdija is starting SF getting 30+mpg

I'll be honest I could care less about the politics as long as they can play and don't let it become a distraction
