So what should we be wanting? Losing by 1 point every game? Everything else is a FAIL?

The NBA, more so than most professional leagues is an all or nothing affair

Get busy being good or get busy being bad, and when you do, you go all in, no fence straddling (Cronin) or half hearted attempts (Olshey)

Being stuck in the middle is the WORST place to be, b/c you doom yourself to irrelevance

There are no knights in shining armor (big time FA) coming to save this team. The only way to build is via the draft or via trade, using assets (picks\young players\contracts), you have acquired.

Winning meaningless games that only decrease your odds to get a high lottery pick (where the majority of franchise\difference makers come from) for a team that is lacking such a player is not only irresponsible but downright stupid

But what a stupid, stupid win. Proves nothing, gains nothing. Cronin not dealing the vets when it was appropriate is setting the franchise back by years. Instead of a ten year drop it’ll probably be 15+.

I got the Lillard win out of my system last year. Don’t care anymore.

I’m so ready for this roster to stop winning these games. Brick that final layup Ant, it’s ok.

My only hope here is Simons boosting some trade value… get him home to Orlando where he can be on a up and coming winning team that needs his scoring. Open up space for Scoot.

Score is tied at 100, 2 minutes to go. For 3-4 straight possessions, the play we go with is:
Simon's dribbles the ball near half court until there are 7 seconds left. Then drives and hopes for the best.
This is stupid coaching when LeBron is the one doing it. Should be a fireable offense when it's Ant.

Yeah, you’re right. He’s the greatest clutch player of all time.

I am sure he’s going to lead us to a championship right after he gets us over .500……someday

So you conflated "one of the best" in the current NBA to "the greatest clutch players of all-time" type of gaslighting to make your point. Got it.

Your bias again is showing. Ant is good in clutch situations and has made multiple game winning shots in his career.

But just in case you decide to gaslight again, I still want him traded. Just give credit where credit is due. You seem to not want to do that when you have a bias.

I mean, ok? Congratulations, he won a meaningless basketball game?

Cronin, POR broadcasting, Simons' fans love to talk about how clutch the he is, but conveniently forget for every one time he has a game like this, he has 5-6 more where he is the exact opposite of clutch. We have seen it this year repeatedly already.

In the last 3 years, POR "best" player has lead then to records of

12 - 22 - 24/25
21 - 61 - 23/24
33 - 49 - 22/23 (w\Dame)

Portland is getting blown out in most of their losses. Like VERY blown out.

To celebrate Simons being a good player in the clutch in like 3 of 11 wins is focusing on the exact wrong thing.

I’d trade Simons’ “clutch” ability and every game winner for the rest of his career for him being even anywhere close to an average defender.

At least we are not paying him 48.7 for a 17-16 record.

So now you're moving goal posts from individual play in clutch situations to team overall records and think that's a gotcha.

BTW, Simons is the 6th best player in the NBA in the clutch this season.

Simons sure was clutch tonight!

Being a good 1v1 player in the NBA lends itself to "clutch" situations, however it doesn't lend itself to winning basketball games.

EDIT: Also, where are you getting 6th? I'm not even seeing him show up statistically...

Yeah, I mean if you just watch the games, you know that that’s a ridiculous assertion. I’m not trying to gaslight, or move goal post, I’m just saying that he is not the type of player who can lead a team to anything significant, and all you have to do is watch him play to know that, unless you are a true believer.

So you're agreeing that Simons is good in the clutch. Got it! I never said I wanted to keep Simons. I was just saying that Cronin is correct when he says Simons is good in the clutch and Walton1one lost his **** over it saying it's not true.

LOL, engage in hyperbole much?

All I pointed out was that for every time he has had a game winner he has had 3+? as many times where he got stripped, blocked, forced a bad shot or just straight up choked, which is true. A clock is right twice a day, and if Billups wants to force the ball into his hands every time POR is in that situation then on occasion he is going to hit one, that doesn't mean he is clutch though.

Does no one remember Sharpe hitting the game winner\carrying the team to a home victory vs ATL?

It is sure amazing to find what other players are capable of when you actually give them the same opportunities...

Shem can you point me to where you're getting your clutch stats?
