Hinrich has been struggling pretty bad. Might be the perfect time to make an offer for him. Could be the perfect PG next to Roy if Portland helps bring his shot and confidence back.

Nocioni would be a nice veteran to have as well.

I have heard nothing bad from him from any articles or interviews from players or coaches. Do you guys think that because of the "Free Money" comments or is it because he gets really excited when he dunks?

It was also noted that he had quite an attitude when he came here for his workout. That, on top of his questioned work ethic, just doesnt really fit with the rest of these guys here. Every single guy on this roster gets along great with everyone else, and they all work their butts off day in and day out. Thats the culture that our GM has been stressing for the past 2 years, and its starting to pay off

I really only see 2 things we could be looking for...

1.) Ben Gordon - He would compliment Brandon Roy really well. Chicago already tried to sign him to an extention and he wasn't having any of it...
2.) Dumping Miles for someone like Joe Smith....

My two realistic options for us...

Miles, Frye, some 2nd round picks for Joe Smith.

OR

Frye, Jack, our 1st, etc for Ben Grodon.

Both might be some decent ideas behind it...

Thomas' work ethic is the biggest problem imo. Attitude's and ego's can be kept in check with stable lockerroom leadership and winning games, but work ethic is another thing entirely. I seem to remember Skiles openly questioning Tyrus' effort and that being a big reason why he wasn't seeing playing time. Now while Nate isn't quite a harsh as Skiles, they certainly value effort equally... Which would definitely not make Thomas a great fit here.

And like Fitz mentioned, his attitude problems have known about since before the draft.

With Brandon Roy and Nate McMillan you are NOT slacking on this team.

I know we need to do some consolidation but KP has been pretty adamant about his dislike of making trades mid-season and I agree with him.

We're playing great and why make changes now that can be done after the season?

Unless we're offered something so good we just cant pass it up of course but I have yet to see any rumors that are all that great.

I just don't see anything that could really work here.

One possibility is that KP believes some of our guys are playing over their heads right now since our team is playing so well as a whole. He could possibly sense that guys like Frye and Jack are overvalued right now on the market, and once we get Oden back and Rudy over they'll lose playing time and their trade value will fall.

Might just be a good time to sell high on some of our bench guys.

Plus, I trust KP to make the right move, he's 100% so far.

Good point about our roster situation. We do have a little bit of extra pressure to make a move either now or at the end of the season, and our guys are looking pretty good right now. However, I believe that they should still be looking about the same at the end of the season, unless somebody believes that Blake will get worse on his three point shooting, which is entirely possible.

Exactly, this is why the Blazers would be better off making a deal now instead of in the offseason. I'm not sure Jack's value is very high but many of our players have very high value right now and if kp could manage to package some young talent to fill a more important need on this team, now is the time. Now that obviously doesn't mean trade the big three or settle for anything but if a good trade opportunity comes along, now is the time for KP to make it.

I trust KP too and that's why I know he isnt going to make any trades unless their no-brainers.

Jack and Frye arent playing over their heads and I dont think their value is going to be any lower in the off-season.

Now is the absolute worst time to mess with the teams chemistry. Making the playoffs is too important.

All the posts, all the trade ideas, two threads here and a big one over at the Bulls board.....and yet I keep coming back to this.

.....Portland and Chicago are the most active clubs in trade talks and most likely to make a deal, not that they are necessarily talking to each other. (Bucher)

KP is not one to do deals in the middle of the season....it goes against his 'San Antonio style'. Unless it was just too good to pass up, I don't see him circumventing the youth experiment as they develop for next season.

If it were strictly a cap move or something that could be done without upsetting the chemistry on the team, maybe. I just don't see it.

A big helllll no to tyrus thomas and Ben Gordon has too many deficiencies to make for what he does well. aka undersized chucker. I'd rather keep Martell, the guy has seriously learnt how to defend and can also heat it up. The only guy i'd want from chicago is hinrich or deng.

Remember Rudy is coming over next year, so who would you rather as instant offense Rudy or BG.

i wouldn't mess up with the team right now.

it's a 50-50 chance of working or sending everything down the drain.

It would stand to reason that Portland is mentioned in a lot of conversations. They seem to have an overabundance of wings who just happen to be great shooters. They are the youngest team in the league which would seem that they would need some stable (AKA overpaid) veterans.

So a lot of teams are no doubt calling trying to see if something nice falls off the back of the truck since it is hard to believe that Portland can go 10 deep and still keep everyone happy. Like TBPup mentioned, it seems to be counter to KP's style to make a move at mid season. Last year I'd say was a little different as Portland clearly had had enough of Juan Dixon and was just trying to cut bait.

Also adding to what Billy said about KP i have great faith in his ability and he spells out his reasoning for everything. So going by a KP train of thought, this trade is highly unlikely.

If Deng comes out of it then I think KP would do it. he's the one Bull who totally fits our profile.

Has anyone thought that the Bulls are hoping to stockpile Kobe shaped trading chips....?

Too late for that I think. I seriously doubt LA would deal Kobe now even if Chicago offered what LA wanted over the summer.

Kobe seems happy. LA is winning.

Gasol chips on the other hand...
