Ya haha maybe if Memphis' goal wasn't to clear cap room.

Here is Memphis' side of the story. If they are right, could turn out to be a fair trade after all...

Plus this makes the rivalry that much better:
Roy vs. Kobe
Outlaw vs. Odom
Aldridge vs. Bynum
And now...
Oden vs. Gasol!
Kobe > Roy
Odom > Outlaw
Bynum > Oden
Gasol > Aldridge
You guys are good, but the Lakers are both more talented and more experienced at every position. And the scoary thing is, the Lakers aren't even old by NBA standards. They have 7-8 years to work with their current team. It's gonna be hell for everyone else in the league.

I'll give you that this year your player comparisons are correct, but it misses the point. If only players played one-on-one it would matter. They don't, and it doesn't. Kobe is a better individual player than Roy, but is he willing to sacrifice his stats for the sake of the team? I've never seen him willing to do so. Odom is better than Outlaw, but only if you overrate rebounding and underrate outside shooting. He's also no durable. Bynum is better than Oden only for the last 30 games and only because Oden didn't play this year--next year the odds are that Oden and Bynum will both come back at least equal to each other if not with a big Oden advantage as he is bigger, more explosive, has better hands and is a better overall talent by a fairly large margin (Shaq-Sabonis kind of deltas). After all, Bynum has had about the same number of double-doubles that Joel Przybilla had as a starter when we signed him to his contract, so it's not like his play, while good, is really proof that he's the second coming of Patrick Ewing like a lot of Laker fans think he is. Finally, Gasol is slightly better than Aldridge, but Aldridge is younger and a better team player. With another year of experience under his belt I doubt there is any difference at all.
Oh, and the game is played five on five with benches--you forgot to mention Martell Webster, Rudy Fernandez, Channing Frye, Joel Przybilla, Steve Blake, Sergio Rodriguez, and the higher pick we'll likely get than you guys this year, all of which are advantages for us.
But we'll see. If you're right, we'll have a lot of the upcoming seasons to find out since I see us, the Lakers, and the Jazz being the powers in the West starting next year as the Spurs, Suns and Rockets age and as Denver implodes on itself.

Kobe doesn't make sacrifices? Are you kidding me? Anyway all this talk about Oden being bigger than Bynum is nonsense. Bynum is 7'1 or 7'2 Matter fact him and Pau are both over 7ft. Are far as Oden being better than Bynum. I guess we'll have to wait until next season to see if your dreams come true. Aldridge and Gasol? Aint close at all one is an up and coming and the other is a all star who lead his NBA team to 50 wins plus plays and lead his country team to the Olympic gold (world games or something). Are far as us playing a team game I guess you don't watch the Lakers because the starting line up avg double digits.

ehh... Whatever, the Lakers are playing much better team ball right now that is true. However Gasol sit's down to pee and Gregs going to make all this Oden/Bynum comparisons a joke. You're right we'll see and we Blazer fans will laugh.
From Portland to Reno to Vegas to LA to SLC and on to HotLanta. Winning at life. Too Blessed to be Stressed

I am not sure what you are talking about with that 50 win stuff. He did that one year and since they have been foundering at the bottom of the lottery. Since he was injured he has not been the same player. As well as the fact that the spanish team has a couple more players than just gasol. He is good but his all star year was the fluke much like memo not the rule.

I haven't seen it. He should stick to playing the game rather than wanting to be a GM. If it was up to him LA would have dealt Bynum for Kidd (or Jermaine) last year. Kobe is a superstar, no debating that. But until Kobe actually shows he's willing to be take a back seat on occasion he hasn't proven to sacrificing anything. He hasn't exactly been the all-around team guy has he?

Gasol sure did lead his team to 50 wins this season.... The guy is a cry baby and sure your better with him but I and i'm 99% sure most GM's take feel LMA > cave man.
Bynum may be big but to bad he has the posture of a 70yr old (oden just looks it). Not to mention he sounds like you drafted him out of middle school when you interview him. I live in socal so please dont try to say i dont know what i'm talking about. Oden is physically on another level than Bynum and it will be proven in the next 1-2yrs.
guys like this poster living around me is pretty much what makes me hate the lakers more lol.

Just remember, no matter what any Laker fan
says hes/shes still a Laker fan. Feel sorry for
them people. They come from a horrible place
full of plastic people and where trend dictates
their lives. Ive been there many times and I
know what im talking about. Besides Gasol
wanted to be traded because he wanted the
ball more, im giving it a season or so 'til he
starts moaning about not getting the ball.. .
I mean c'mon hes on a team with Kobe, Gasol
is going to get the ball even less then when he
was bitchin' about not getting the ball.. .The
Lakers will lose in the playoffs, theyre still
weak in the middle.. .But so are the Blazers, lol.

Huh? Your whole post is stupid and does nothing for your argument. btw what are you basing this silly idea that 99% of the GMs like Aldridge over Pau?
Pure comedy here.-

Heres the thing, if Pau had more value around the league than LMA the Grizz would have gotten a much better offer. I can guarantee that if PDX put LaMarcus on the open market he would fetch quite a bit more than Pau did. It's not like the lakers have some sort of mystical power that enables them to get a player for less than other teams are offering...
