I agree, but we were sold DRose 2.0, so its time to prove it or shut up. Young PGs take time, I see some things there with Scoot, but man... this is the best talent you can give a young PG to learn from... if he's still not a 15+ppg and showing Amen level improvements by January 2026, trade - his - ass.
His Y1 to Y2 development across the board was tremendous (Raw and advanced stats) - the caveat being the baseline to develop from his rookie year was unbelievably low.
If he can make another jump of similar proportions from Y2 to Y3 then we might have a starter on our hands. If he doesnt, ship him out next summer for a middling FRP.
I am going to play devil's advocate on this one. If you look at Y1 through Y2 through December - there wasn't the jump we would want.
But if you look at January and February, that is a different story all together. His TS% went way up, his A/TO ratio was very solid and his 3 point shooting was really good. He doesn't need to take a jump so much as just play as he did in those two months.
Also, his defense was much better in those two months when Chauncy rolled out the 3-forward D and Clingan became the defensive anchor.
I am fully bought in (irrationally) that he will come back this season as his January/February self. It will look like a huge jump from Y2 to Y3 but it will just be consistency of play to his better months.
What I am not convinced about (yet) is his durability. But, I am not convinced about Jrue's durability at this point either or for Dame's next year. We may very well need 3 PGs to get us through the season (opinion).
