Re: Blazer Rumors Roundup 2022
Latest rumor from Danny Marang of Jacked Ramsay’s podcast (who claims to have inside sources), the Blazers are going to go hard after Grant before the deadline and to do so as a “sign of good faith” to fans and Dame that they are focusing on a fast retool here, not a multi-year rebuild. Also confirmed Dame really likes Grant and wants to play with him (something that’s been known since Grant was last a FA).
Other bit of bad news from the pod and his sources, the Blazers are committed to a Dame/Ant backcourt. So for all hoping the CJ trade was the end of the undersized backcourt… prepare to be disappointed.

Re: Blazer Rumors Roundup 2022
I think Nurkic is going to stick around. Not only is he worth more to us than on the market (IMO), but if Dame is staying for a retool I dont think they move both his BFFs.
It would be tricky, but I would be game for a deal that turned Bledsoe, NAW and Keon into Grant and filler (Lyles, ex).
Suddenly having Grant, Little, Winslow, Hart and Brown as our forwards is such a big upgrade.

Incredibly telling when every trade the Blazers have made has the headline "Other team acquires (insert player)".
Because love can burn like a cigarette.
And leave you left with nothing.
Leave you left with nothing.
And leave you left with nothing.
Leave you left with nothing.

Unless Cronin pulls something like SnT for LaVine and John Collins in summer, I see this deadline as a complete utter disaster.

Ant / Keon / Hart / CJ / Winslow
Our upcoming games are rough. We might go on a long losing streak.

We're all waiting for the season to end and we can begin thinking about the workouts prior to the
draft. Perhaps things will be like 2006 instead of that infamous summer of 2017

I feel like we're just going to be sending huge offer sheets to Miles Bridges and Deandre Ayton. Play the RFA game with this much room.

We did poor in the LAC trade but all other moves and the direction in general is exactly what the team has needed. The primary goal is to add a true 2nd banana to Dame, we now have a path to cap space, a 21M TPE and 2 lotto picks to try and make this happen.
If we cant do the above, we move Dame and go full rebuild. We now have a path to a true rebuild with cap space (To take bad money for compensation) a 21M TPE (To take bad money for compensation) and 2 lotto picks to boot.
We killed the treadmill and have a swing big path (IE add a star next to Dame) and a true rebuild path.
Cronin has a vision and I love it. The issue is not getting a better comp from LAC, but the direction is absolutely the right one.

What we need to do is win the 2023 draft lottery in order to draft the French big. All the other things we will
be doing is to acquire a supporting cast for the next franchise player

The New Orleans FRP is far from being a certain lottery pick. They started the year something like 1 and 12 and have played .500 ball since then.

LOL @ Henry Abbott.
He and Dame really got into on Twitter over the summer with Dame really forcefully pushing back against his "reports" and "sources". Seems he's going back for seconds lmao.

I hope we have a plan. I haven’t gotten excited about cap space since Meyers Leonard got paid 10 mil a year and Evan Turner even more.

Saw this. Rolled my eyes. I think Holdahl's response of that being extreme measures of a psych op for something no one would blame anyone for (if it came to pass) is spot on. So I went to check Henry's feed - and wouldn't you know it, among his attempts to stir up trouble re: Dame again is an announcement of him having an upcoming book he's writing about sports.

While i don’t buy an abbot rumor the blazers are basically ensuring at some point dame and or the blazers will likely need to part ways. I mean who honestly believes blazers will use cap space to improve the team to better that it was with what we gave up? the blazers have a long history of squandered opportunities and while it was a misfit roster i doubt we magically acquire an all star in free agency or through trade with mere cap space even if we are super creative
And if a dame trade inevitably happens eventually (1-2 years down the rd) we better hope to God joe cronin isn’t spearheading the talks or we might come away with a first a second and expiringz at the rate he’s going... Ok being slightly facetious but i don’t trust him at all to maximize talent and i don’t love this plan of blowing it up without unloading dame first. Cronin has now played his cards and everyone expects dame to be dealt eventually regardless of what portland’s true plans are. Maybe an extension can restore some of dames value if he still does sign (and i think he does sign an extension still) but nonetheless this dame and no one else roster isn’t gonna win titles and i’m highly doubtful we can get better with our current roster short of trading dame and starting over from a cap perspective (dame is almost 40-50 percent of our money).

Cronin may or may not have a solid vision, but his negotiating skills are highly questionable
there is just no way you can cast that Clippers trade as good vision or good result. It was bad both ways. And I'll strap on my tinfoil hat and ask why TF he combined Powell and Roco in one package, and went to a team that had no first round picks to trade till 2028. I'm sorry, but that situation is just to easy to cast as one Seattle/Microsoft/Neighbor owner doing a favor for another
as far as the Pels trade; it looked a lot better yesterday before it was revealed if that 1st doesn't convey this season, it turns into the Milwaukee 2025 first. Further, New Orleans owned that pick unprotected but Cronin allowed the Pels to place top-4 protections on it
it's like he's in the middle of negotiations and is willing to accept a 2nd offer when the other side may be willing to up the value on their 3rd and again on their 4th offer
finally, in terms of his vision, if he see Jeremai Grant as an answer to Blazer problems he needs glasses

Luckily, NO has the 6th hardest strength of schedule. Plus they play us twice.
Bad thing is if the pick doesn't convey this year, then it becomes the '25 Milwaukee 1st (top 4 protected). And after that, one 2nd and a 2nd swap. So we really want NO to lose this year.

Not just is it stupid from a psyop aspect... but just stupid from a logical standpoint. Can you really imagine a professional sports franchise and a player both being like "Boy, I sure hope the other guy makes the first move!" regarding a trade.
Just completely asinine.
