The Greg thing was pretty brutal. I think he was failed more by the Blazers in how they helped ruin his body, honestly. They never should've let him get so top heavy during his microfracture rehab.

Re: Free Agency 2023 - Blazers and around the league.
The Bill Walton bone spur era was very painful and was unnecessary for the team had Moses
Malone in camp and was very frustrating. Portland traded 5 players in anticipation of the
Sam Bowie era in Portland. Clyde's teams might have gotten over the top if they had
traded Cliff Robinson to get Barkley. Scottie Pippen's Blazers collapsed in the fourth
quarter. The Jail Blazer era, excitement and failure to see Oden, Roy and Aldridge and
now the end of the Lillard era.
I'm looking forward to see what comes next. Hopefully this will be a good group of guys to
cheer for, for I pull for the guys who wear the Blazers uniform.

Re: Free Agency 2023 - Blazers and around the league.
All eras end. I’m ok with the Lillard era coming to a close and I do think there’s a chance he will come back for one year to retire a Blazer. My only frustration really is the Blazers FO never repaid Dame’s loyalty to the franchise and city by taking a big swing.
I am excited to see this new era with Scoot and Shae. I know most think this is going to be bad for a long time, but I do think there could be a chance this team hits earlier, especially if Scoot is as good as advertised. This teams timeline to getting back up is really all about Scoot.

I honestly like the value, better contract than jerami easily albeit plays a position we are plenty full at so it's redundant for us

We’re likely to be really bad for at least 3-5 more years, bottom 8 in the NBA bad
If Dame is traded for basically picks we’re definitely bottom 2 in the conference this season

…really? I have Grant’s deal as much better than Brooks’, even at 10+ mil over. But that’s just my opinion and you’re of course entitled to yours.

Are we even sure Brooks will be playing 20 mpg by the end of the season? I think there’s a world where he’s racking up DNPs

I don't understand bringing in Brooks. Doesn't it hinder the growth of Amen?
I think the picks Houston starts to owe OKC are due this year? I'm not sure. So I get wanting to try to be competitive, but.. I don't know, man. I don't know.

Brooks has a lot going on negatively but it's a shorter deal at 4 years and he's a good defender and a starter in this league. He also doesn't need tbe ball in his hands and unfortunately jerami is a ball hog
I'm not saying I'd sign him in pdx because we have enough guards but i can understand the contract in broad terms. Yeah it may be an overpay by 4 mil per but I'd say jerami is about 12 mil over fair value per year

Better and more athletic defender shooting 40% last season scoring 20+ a game playing the vast majority of the season
I don’t think 20 mil fetches you a player like that, especially not in Portland.

So a team that's trying to win the championship, who had Brooks on their roster for years, said they wouldn't re-sign him at ANY cost but somehow he's also a great deal at 80/4?
Has anyone ever said that about Grant?

Yeah well without Dame it's just a waste that maybe costs us pick position

If it weren't for the issues he probably gets 30 per
Jerami is highly overrated on defense, probably even a liability. And his points come from being a complete and utter black hole. Tons of iso ball/zero movement to get that 20 ppg.

Are you high? There’s a reason Memphis wanted to eject Brooks from their franchise. He’s a chucker than can’t chuck well.
Brooks 14.3 points on 13.6 FGA shooting 32.6% from 3 and 39.6% from the field.
Grant 20.5 points on 14.5 FGA shooting 40% from 3 and 47.5% from the field.
Brooks 2.6 APG
Grant 2.4 APG
Grant takes 7% more shots than Brooks and scores 43% more points. Their passing is about the same.
I swear some of you don’t even watch games

That initial line seems impolite and uncalled for..
I wouldnt want either in Portland. I wasn't aware Brooks was that poor of a shooter, that does change things a bit. I wouldn't want either in Portland for their contracts don't get me wrong I just believe jerami on 5 YEARS is the clincher for how bad that deal is and makes that contract inferior if guaranteed fully

I'm of the belief that Grant was in the Blazers future plans regardless of what Dame decided to do, and possibly agreed upon months ago like some have suggested. Entirely possible that they really like Grant... I sure do, and for the reasons (I think jsun) previously mentioned as a very good veteran mentor to the young guys. Really hoping we have a deal already done with Thybulle as well, but I could see it being our last move and just a timing thing considering he's a RFA. If so, this team 1-3 is really good RIGHT NOW.
Simons / Scoot / Rupert
Sharpe / Thybulle / Keon
Grant / Little
With the right Dame trade, Cronin should be able to greatly improve our PF/C positions, and on a side note... Has anyone heard about Winslow? He's a true mystery to me right now. Point is... I think the chances of our team looking and being fairly competitive will be very good after one year of these mostly youngsters getting the chance to gell. Hopefully we get an equally promising bottom-half added to our roster by Independence Day... Pun intended.

I'd love to see a trade to Brooklyn.
Nurk fits nicely into the Harris TPE (if he's in the deal)
Portland can take a package built around Claxton and the draft picks Brooklyn has from
the KD deal.

Re: Free Agency 2023 - Blazers and around the league.
I think Grant would be a great guy to have around the young players and wouldn’t hinder their growth cause he’d be at the 4. I don’t mind overpaying for now cause we don’t need that cap space in a rebuild as Hou is showing us with their horrible contracts.
I’m so excited at the prospect of Scoot and Shaedon leading our team we haven’t had exciting transition offense for as long as I have been a fan and watching Sac this year I was very jealous about what they could do with Fox
I think people are severely underestimating the worth and value of Ant he is the perfect seasoned guy to have while Scoot adjusts to the NBA and he plays well with Scoot and Sharpe. I think that is a great trio to have at such young ages to build around
If we can do the impossible and trade for Jaylen Brown via Dame I’d be jumping over the moon
Simons/Scoot
Sharpe
Brown
Grant
Young Center
We wouldn’t even need to be a bad team and suck for a year if we could swing brown him plus our young trio would be more then enough to compete at a high level in the next year or two. If Joe is serious about winning I hope he tries cause Brown is yet to sign that extension and he looked very bad when Tatum was hurt so I hope that is the perfect storm to get him in Portland.
