Golden State only down three at the half. Amazing.

I know it has already been mentioned, but I just realized that Raptors vs Nets will be on the last day of the season and will likely determine where the Blazers get in the lottery (unless Nets jump up in the lottery). Should be exciting.

Toronto vs NJ is indeed a key game but tomorrow's games with Toronto
vs Detroit and GS/Minnesota are also important. Lottery positioning
is important and if anything else, NJ might be more motivated to lose
their remaining two games for if they could somehow get to 5, they
would have an 8.8% chance at winning.

They don't have to win, they just have to move into the top 3. At the 5 spot they have about a 29% chance of moving into the top 3.

Next Friday is coin toss day. Still possible for the Nets pick to fall anywhere from 3 to 9, and the Blazers pick from 10 to 12.

I can't decide who I want to lose in the GSW vs MIN game tonight. If the Wolves lose, that kills any chance the Blazers will have of tying for the 10th. If the Warriors lose, that ties them with the Nets and gives them a better chance at moving into 6th.

I'm going to be pulling for the Wolves tonight for that would give us a chance
at finishing at 10. GS still has a decent chance at a win for they play the
Hornets at home on Tuesday and might beat the Spurs if Pop chooses to rest
his stars. I suspect George Karl will be resting his stars as well on Thursday
against the Wolves which might give the Wolves a chance at two wins to
finish their season.

We're going to see some lottery teams win this final week of the season for
most playoff teams will be resting their star players with the playoffs starting
two days afterwards. That final game with the Nets/Raptors might decide
picks 5-8. but don't forget about Detroit/Toronto game for a Detroit win would
likely lock them into picking 9.

Remember though the opposite is also true for they would have a 71% chance at finishing at 5 or
later and it would not be the end of the world if we had to wait for 2013 to get the pick.

Let's say NJ ends up picking 2 or 3. NJ is going to have to think hard about offering the trade
they would need to get Howard who would be recovering from his herniated disk. If they lose
Deron and don't get Howard, they might be worse than they are in 2012. The 2013 draft is
loaded with more promising bigs along with a superstar player in Shabazz Muhammad. if we had
to wait until 2014, the HS junior class might be the best in perhaps 10 or so years. If anything,
NJ should be thankful Portland would take their pick at 5-8, for it would allow them to target
a star player in the 2013 draft who will be a star for its unlikely Portland will get such a player
with their pick in the 2012 draft.

to hell with that

NJ could get a top-3 pick this year..maybe even gets Anthony Davis. Deron decides to re-sign with the Brooklyn Nets, and they use some cap-space and the mini-MLE to fill out their roster. Lopez comes back and teams with Davis to form a pretty dynamic front-court, especially if they keep Humphries and Gerald Wallace. NJ is only 11 games out of the playoffs this season and that's after they've gone into full tank mode and after Deron has missed 10 games and Lopez practically the entire season

Then the Nets make the playoffs next season and the Blazers end up with the 19th or 21st pick in a weak draft

that scenario is just as likely as the one where Portland gets a top pick next year

Don't sleep on the Hornets. They're a totally new team with Eric Gordon back. They've only lost like 3 or 4 games with Gordon in the lineup. I do agree that the Spurs game could be a win for them though. The Nets are going to struggle to get another win since it looks like Deron is going to be out for the rest of the games.

If the Nets keep their pick this year, the Blazers need to unload that pick on draft night. As Wizen said, there's too much of a risk of the Nets being able to reload and be a playoff team in the East next year. Unloading the Nets pick while teams still believe it has a lot of value is the best move for the Blazers if they don't keep it in this draft.

It must be a really ugly game with Toronto/Detroit for its not fun for the fans to
see a 34-29 halftime score.

The thing is the worst case scenario with NJ's pick is much like their odds of moving
up from 5 to 3 which is 71-29. I'm frankly skeptical we will improve greatly next
season even if things go as well as expected but I like our odds unlike there is
anything to those conspiracy theories that the NBA wants the Nets to win when
they open their new arena.

The Net's only have an 8.8% chance at winning the lottery and getting Anthony Davis.
Even Davis is going to need some time to develop physically for I'd like to know how
he will measure out at the pre-draft camp. If NJ gets picks 2 or 3, the player they
will be drafting will be a college freshman (MKG, Beal, Drummond) or a junior like Thomas
Robinson who might be a tweener. Are any of those players going to make such a
difference for NJ?

I'd be willing to listen to offers for NJ's future #1 pick on draft night but we shouldn't
assume we're going to get such a great offer that we can't refuse. I still like our odds
with NJ's pick in 2013 for nothing in the draft is a sure thing for remember what happened
to us in 2007.

This is a suckfest. Is it like this every year at the bottom or is it just this year? I have never seen such blatant sucking. The GSW are setting the new mark for tanking, and this Detroit Toronto game should come with full ticket refunds for every poor soul there.

It's really looking more and more likely that the game between Toronto and Jersey will determine where those two teams place in the lottery race. The Raptors are seriously a joke. I honestly think New Jersey will beat whatever D-Leaguers the Raptors will roll out.

The Warriors have come storming back to take the lead over TWolves. They're up 5 with 1 minute left.
