Dame has also been on record as saying he wants Dray in PDX, so it would be a home run for Olshey in keeping Dame happy. I don’t think GS does it though, because Green is the heart and soul of the team and I think that would really piss off Steph and Klay.

Dame/Smith jr/Simons
Powell/Mclemore
ROCO/Snell/Nas
Draymond/Nance jr
Nurk/Zeller

I think that’s a top 5 Defense easy.

Dude I know you guys hate CJ and all but no, ew ew ew no.

I don’t hate CJ at all, that’s just a WAY better, more balanced team. Draymond plays with an intensity few players have in this league... Not to mention he adds championship experience and he’s a DPOY. Would you rather add Simmons, who is more athletic but has zero heart and acts like a little pouty b****? And again, Dame and Dray are really good friends, so this would definitely secure Dame staying PDX.

I would probably stop being a blazers fan if we unloaded cj for draymond or lolsimmons.. I’m not gonna lie they are personally two of my least favorite players just as a fan of basketball, but I also understand the attempted “rebalancing” of the roster. However I don’t think adding one of two players that are essentially useless on offense is the kind of Impact that would keep Dame happy. If you’re trading the other splash brother, better have something more exciting than a guy who is a 7/7/7 nightly threat or a dude whose value is plummeting more than most #1 picks even have the chance to in their career. If CJ was toxic or something, I guess. But the dude at this point needs to be a blazer as long as Dame is IMO. The time to trade him was several years ago, not now for me.

Classic Olshey move, but I REALLY like this one. I was really high on him in the draft, and he’s still young. There’s a little Lillard in his game and I think he would benefit from playing with him. I hope this signals a CJ trade in the coming days…

I agree it's a classic Olshey move, and for the low risk gamble that it is, I'm definitely happy with this move to give him a chance.

Although I don't think a training camp move will influence a CJ trade though.

I'm surprised DSj didn't really take off long-term in the NBA and he's been reduced to training camp invitee. I heard he had some attitude probs, but not sure on the validity of that.

Awesome... another 6'2 SG  Maybe he can backup Powell at the SF

As for the attitude probs... I saw a fan post that he lost his stepmom, and suggested that he has since been different.

I’m beginning to think Olshey just doesn’t want to feel short when he’s around the team…

wow! that was surprising. If we trade for Simmons I hope its only CJ going out, Ben Simmons is such a risky proposition. If he sucks in Portland not only are we stuck with him but we probably lose Dame too

Worth the risk. I hate his personality but this team needs to roll the dice or Dame is gone anyways. No other player has the same potential to raise our ceiling like him. I do hope we can supplement some lost scoring w/ a LMA or Love signing should a Ben deal go down.

But risky is trying the same crap ingredients and hoping the cake doesnt taste like ****. Thats what we are about to do going into 21/22.

As for DSJ, not sure why the excitement. He pouted in DAL when Luka took his usage, he couldnt carve a role in NYK despite their absolutely putrid PG rotation and he was a bit player on a bottom-3 talent team in Detroit. He probably just sucks, I dont think the universe has conspired against him up to this point.

You know what's even more disgusting? A career TS% of .476. In this case, I think a questionable jump shot may be even more detrimental than a questionable attitude.

Combine both, with career negatives in WS, OBPM, DBPM and VORP and it's pretty obvious why a former top 10 pick has been reduced to being a training camp invitee.

Those DSJ highlights are hilarious. I see a reckless player making lucky as hell shots, outside the dunks. Is that the best they have from his rookie year?

He is an elite athlete for a PG with no other traits above average. He isnt a NBA player, he is an NBA athlete.

Probably just a signing to help push Ant. However DSJ will only be 24 in the fall, shot 35% from 3 for Detroit last year with an A/T of almost 3 and some positive defensive stats, so he could come into camp pretty motivated looking for a chance to prove himself. Crazier things have certainly happened but I would be surprised to see him make the final roster.

Kid can jump out the gym and he’s young enough to still carve out a back up PG role.

I could see a CJ + Ant for Simmons deal. Ant probably goes to a 3rd team with more assets headed to PHI.

Dame(36)/Simmons(12) maybe DSJ
Powell (32)/McLemore or Snell(16)
Roco(30)/Little or Snell(18)
Simmons(22)/Nance(26)GB3
Nurk(28)/Zeller(20)GB3

IDK but that looks like a really really good roster

Team is required to sign a 14th player. That's the main reason why DSJ, Chriss, etc. are getting training camp invites.

No idea why Kanter, RHJ, Whiteside weren't retained.

Just to beat that dead horse, unless Morey decides some form of a CJ for Simmons is the best he can get prior to training camp, I think we are screwed. Morey is playing the longer game, hoping, with the clock ticking, that Dame will become disgruntled sooner rather than later. Also think Dame must realize how difficult uprooting, and moving family to another city must be.

Not sure what the odds are, but I do strongly believe Olshey and Morey, because it just makes logical sense, must have had discussions in the past, and possibly ongoing. In a nutshell, CJ for Simmons or BUST.

I think Simmons would be a great fit at forward, where his poor shooting wouldn't be quite so big a deal. Just think of how great our defense could be with Simmons in the lineup rather than CJ.

Morey will get his point across if Simmons holds out: Simmons is an all star and only 25. The 76ers will play without him and he can lose $$$. More is required.

CJ for Simmons would be Eric Gordon for CP3. That situation was unique beyond unique. Olshey needs to pay more. Would CJ, Little, and Simons get it done? If so, do it. If a deal requires taking the protections off the Nance pick to send one to Philly? Do it. I like the 2021-22 lineup better than last season’s, but seriously. Morey needs a perceived “tie” on the trade.

[A 3 teamer with Draymond Green to Portland fits, too, and really well. Maybe better.]

He who gets Simmons has to pay enough.

CJ for Simmons straight up would be GREAT for both teams IMO, but if we need to overpay a little than fine, DO IT! I just can't imaging what better offers are out there for Simmons right now. He's a big gamble with a big price tag. Not sure how many other teams are willing to take the risk.

CJ + FRP + Pick Swap... that should be plenty. Might also be time to put a clock on it.
