the trade as stated is a definite no. there is no way portland is taking on $13.5 million ($16.5 million owed less $3 million for williams) to move up two spots in the draft. maybe if villanueva was serviceable, but he isn't...

of course they would. it's completely lopsided in detroit's favor and a terrible use of capspace for portland. by not giving up #11, it makes sense to take on villanueva's contract since the positive value of a rookie scale contract offsets the negative value of villanueva's contract. but taking on $16.5 million in financial obligations and giving up a lotto pick to move up two spaces is less advantageous than, say, keeping the #11 pick and using our capspace to sign a player like dragic.
