I like GTJ and admitted that while his effort on D was more than his accomplishment, I also expect he’ll become a decent to good defender. GTJ was an excellent pick in the 2nd round — a mature player who works on his game.

Powell is better. Defense. To the hoop. Efficient, smooth 3’s. His game just looks easier, under control, and with power. Getting him in a 5-year was good work. He’s a strong match at the 2 for Lillard. Hope Olshey gets the roster balanced with a CJ trade at either forward spot.

i think gtj projects higher but yes norm is better now. Now Gtj’s contract is atrocious, basically it’s a lose-lose for toronto at 3 years i think toronto should’ve fought for no po

I have a feeling GT wanted that 3 year contract so he could test free agency and/or ask for more money and years in a second contract.

Yes quite possibly. And maybe that was a major factor at the deadline if he wasn’t willing to bend on that

CJ getting traded was absolutely about time … especially with the rise of Simons during his rookie contract and with injuries to others. Any CJ trade was at least one year too late!

Norm, Simons, and Dame would be a strong guard rotation for a playoff run IF the Blazers had FORWARDS! But if salary was getting cleared, then Norm gets tossed in trades along with RoCo and Nance. Which sucks as Norm was the ONE to keep. Maybe Hart replaces enough of what Norm did at a significantly lower price and shorter contract. :banghead:

Hated to see Norm traded. The rest? Like them. Likable guys. Still no FORWARDS!

Covingtons career seems headed for a dead end for some reason. I don’t really know what happened to his game, he was so highly thought of by the teams he was on and then never had any real injuries to speak of… so not sure why his production so drastically fell off a cliff.

I hope Norman can come back soon. Not just because he's a likeable guy, but also as he'll help LAC hopefully keep New Orleans from making the playoffs and keeping their pick.
