Glad to hear, as that contract would be horrendous.Dzon Dilindzer wrote:PDXKnight wrote:Nurks agent reporting he's returning for 4 years 80 mil

MOAR GUARDS NOWWWWW
This seems like an indicator Hart is going to be our starting 3 with Payton getting the back up minutes at 1 and 2. Would be a great fit on defense. I'm not familiar with Brown really. I know he had some decent games for BK but that's about it.

Indeed. I'm hoping for 15 mil annually at most

I actually don't think they'll play Payton, if he signs, at the one. I think the idea that they're going after Bruce Brown and/or GP signals they're probably going to play Simons as the backup one when DAme's out. He'll start at two, get taken out first, then perform backup one and Hart/GP/Brown whoever will play the two (or three in Hart's case) and ANt will run the offense.

It'd be interesting to see what Portland would do if Nurk signed elsewhere.
Would Portland pivot to pursuing Ayton if Nurk signed elsewhere?

Re: Free agency
Dame, Simons, Hart, Johnson, Sharpe…. seems like we have enough guards to fit in a rotation, why we’d be trying to sign Payton is insanity.
I understand the concept that if we can’t get a SF better than Hart then we’re stuck playing him at the 3, thus we probably do need a player like Payton but that scenario sorta means you’re just **** anyway.

Hart wasn't bad at sf definitely better than Norm

Re: Free agency
Interesting to me that Simons got done soo quickly, while Nurkic seems to be taking a while. Best I can imagine is that Cronin has an offer on the table, but Nurkic wants to test the waters a bit. Considering what the other bigs around the NBA are taking, he may be underwhelmed by Cronin's offer. Hope to see it done soon though, as we are desperately thin down low right now, especially with Nurkic still uncertain.
As for the KD drama, I simply worry that it may take the Free Agency period hostage to some degree.
Just for fun...
Dame / Nurkic / EBEC for KD / Kyrie
Kyrie / Simons
Hart / Little / Keon
Grant / Winslow / Sharpe
KD / GB3 / Walker
Watford / Eubanks

I really like this move. We need to add depth to both forward positions though. I wonder if this is what was holding up the Nurk contract.

There has to be some sort of trade coming, the GP2 signing makes zero sense without one. I gotta believe Hart is on the move somewhere.

Re: Free agency
I love his tenacity and ferocity on the defensive end of the floor. I've felt that we haven't had that type in a long time and he'll be a fantastic fit.
I just got done watching the Dame and GP ESPN convo show they had a little while ago too.

I think it means Hart & Nas are our SFs. I’d bet we waive Bledsoe & Stretch the contract, resign Nurk, and fill the rest out with vet min players.

Re: Free agency
Loading up on athletic defensive players. I kind of feel like we could've gotten the same defense and athleticism from Dunn for a vet minimum but I really like Payton.
This has to be the most athletic blazers roster I've ever seen.
Dame/GP2
Simons/Sharpe/Johnson
Hart/Winslow
Grant/Watford/GB3
???????

Re: Free agency
Can we use a TPE to sign a free agent?
We still have 2 small ones and Bledsoe to make moves.
TJ Warren for the Roco tpe, or maybe OPJ? Please?

You forgot Little, Didi, and we’ll have Nurkic back.
If we stretch/waive Bledsoe we’ll be about 16.8 mil under tax give it take a little with 12 players on roster. That’s likely enough for Nurk + 1 minimum and leaving the last spot open. They have to use that slot for a C
