Speaking of latest trends, someone should tell the 12-0 Cavs. Their backcourt is a 6-1 Garland and 6-3 Mitchell, neither of which are exactly DPOY candidates. It takes all kinds :D

Ya that is for sure an outlier - but you have to note that until this year there were big rumblings about that backcourt not working.

Mitchell is also pretty stocky for his height - 6'3, 6'10 WS, 215lbs. Thats about 35lbs bigger than Simons listed weight of 181lbs.

Also think they come back to earth a bit - they are for sure an elite team but Garland is shooting w/ an EFg about 12% above his average.

A short backcourt will always have it's limitations - especially once the playoffs hit. That said, if the goal is to just make the playoffs (like say... if you're a team who's giving away a fully unprotected first round pick in a supposedly historic draft), having a potent offensive backcourt with two guards under 6'4", that can get you far in the regular season.

If I'm the Clippers right now, I'm doing everything in my power to have a 44+ win season for the next couple years until these unprotected pick obligations to OKC are settled. The goal is always a ring, but a close second is to not give away Top 6 picks in amazing drafts.
