The only two guys I feel really good about in this draft are Gobert and Olapido... Unfortunately we don't have a lot to move up in the draft. Gobert is projected to be there at #10 but I have serious doubts he'll stick there after measurements/workouts.

If we are able to draft Gobert and feel good about going into the season with a rotation of him, JO, and Leonard then that frees up our salary cap space to go hard after bench support... JJ, Tyreke Evans, JR Smith, OJ Mayo, Millsap, etc.

Speaking of big men: Rudy Gobert was measured at 7-1 1/2 WITHOUT shoes. Has 7-8 1/2 wing span.

Gobert pick is growing on me but I still love Oladipo the most

Same here. I love Oladipo. Makes me think of a SG version of Russell Westbrook.

Gobert probably biggest boom/bust pick of the draft. It is pretty unlikely he jumps over Len and Noel though. But it gives me hope the Blazers don't throw the pick away on a trade for a bad contract.

only 3 players in the DraftExpress database have had longer wingspans. And 7'1.5 without shoes means he'll be near a 7'3 C with good mobility and hops

like I said earlier, it's very unlikely he'll last till the 10th pick, even if he is a Euro player and there is some inherent skepticism about him

IMO, Portland best chance at a paint dominant defender is to get one young and unproven and go from there. But Portland probably had too good a record this season.

again, I wonder if the 10th pick + rights to Kostas Papanikolou would move Portland up in the draft order?

if the rave reviews of Gobert keep up, would 10th pick + rights to Kostas Papanikolou + Meyers Leonard be too much to pay for Gobert?

he's become a consensus top-3 or top-4 pick. There's just about no realistic way the Blazers can move up nearly that high

If you think you've found your starting center for the next 5-10 years that'll be a defensive anchor then no I don't think so.

Same with QB's in the NFL. The Redskins gave up a ton for RGIII but they knew they were getting their guy at the most important position and it paid off.

Yeah that's who I've been comparing him to for months now as well. He would be an absolute perfect backcourt mate with Lillard

I'm only just starting to do my serious research on this draft class. I am starting to like the idea of Gobert. His frame and length reminds me a lot of McGee, hopefully just without the McGee like buffoonery. Plus, I'm sure Batum would appreciate another French teammate.

If Gobert ends up jumping into the Top 9, I'd be OK taking Shabazz if he falls to #10. At the 10th pick, you generally aren't going to get a difference maker (not impossible, but unlikely), so I'm OK taking a chance on a guy who has a draft day tumble when he has had star hype behind him.

Outside of those guys and the Top 3 of Noel, Oladipo, and McLemore, I'm not overly impressed with anyone else in this draft. I guess Len would be alright too, but I'm not convinced he's going to be much better than an Enas Kanter type of C.

true, but I did say "realistic"

1.1% chance of 1st

about a 4% chance of top-3.....1 in 25. It's better then 0 in 25 though which would have been the case if the Blazers gave up the pick to Charlotte this season. Glad they weren't that un-bad...

Tempering the Gobert excitement a little is that he is not competing against the top prospects. So it isn't shocking they can't score against him inside.

Damn Wiz, I had to double check your username. :D You really like this guy huh, He is impressing me too. I held my opinions of him cause he has no analysis videos, but Meyers and the 10th? some sites have him in the 20's.

My guy Adams is opening eyes. His size and feel on the defensive end are gonna be big. I think he'll go lottery. Not at all surprised he did so well today.

Muhammad, occasionally unprompted, gushed about Portland. Says he would be a great fit between Lillard and @aldridge_12.
