If Portland trades Lillard to the Lakers I will never watch another basketball game ever again.
Can we please stop talking about this?

I too dislike the Lakers, but I dislike the Warriors more. This trade would help take the Warriors down while improving the long term prospects of our beloved franchise. As a fan of the Blazers and the NBA in general, I would be quite happy if it happened.

With regard to the poison that is Lavar Ball: Even if that nut vowed to return Lonzo to LA, that would still be several years down the line. Lonzo's rights are controlled by his team for another four years minimum.

I'm thinking something along the lines of this in exchange for Lillard: Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, 2019 & 2021 first round picks
Even though CJ doesn't fit the timeline of the rest of Portland's players, I'd keep him and roll with this crew:
Ball / Curry
CJ / Turner
Ingram / Harkless
Collins / Aminu
Nurkic / scrubs
Given the potential of Ball, Ingram, Collins, and even Nurk, this would put the Blazers on a trajectory where at least there is hope that they can contend for a championship in the next few years. That is not currently the case.
If Paul Allen wanted to go even deeper down the rebuild hole, they could then seek to flip CJ for more young players and first round picks.
I want nothing to do with Lonzo and the whole Ball family. Lavar will do nothing but complain to the media daily about how much he and his son want out of Portland and they'll probably stonewall any contract talks until he's a FA.
But how can you say no to 45% from the FT line???

Oh gosh how is that even possible for a guard?

In Lonzo's defense, he did shoot 67% on more attempts in college

The Blazers are going to be a mediocre team for the remainder of Lillard's contract, barring a player making some spectacular leap to stardom.
Is he really going to want to resign with Portland at his age? I think the likely hood of him wanting to join a super team is pretty high.
I would however, look for a better deal than what we could get from the Lakers. I'd try and get someone like KAT.

Re: Portland's Off-Season Has Officially Arrived
Normally this type of thing ( Dame's Tweet ) would not worry me but there are many factors that make me take this serious.
1) Ed Davis was allowed to walk for NOTHING pretty much one of Dame's friends on the team
2) NeO may have started pretty good even outside of drafting Dame but the last 2 or 3 years for whatever reason he kind of sucks
3) Also we pile on NeO but is it possible Paul has decided to go into cut savings mode for whatever reason and NeO is just acting on orders from above ?
4) This one could be why reason 3 is there -- The warriors super team , Rockets and now the Lakers -- the Blazers as much as he might love it here wants to be competitive and at the moment the Blazers are not and seem to rather play it safe then try to take it at those teams. I am talking via there moves by NeO a guy who seemed fearless so why is he settling for the Turners and not taking a chance recruiting a James or someone even if they might get turned down. It's better to swing and miss then stand there with the bat on your shoulder and strike out without swinging.
The Blazers need ... correction MUST try something SOON or they will watch maybe the most talented player since Clyde walk out of town. They need to show Dame they have a pulse and will not just roll over and die when faced with these super teams. The time for NeO and his lip service are OVER --- Actions speak much louder then his hollow words and right now i see a team that is content with a 5 to 8th seed but Dame is not and why he is open to leaving.
It's as simple as that and if NeO or Paul Allen cannot see that then this team is doomed and i am talking maybe worse then the jail blazer era and that scares me even more then Dame leaving cause the Blazers are more then any one player. I hate to sound a little like Canzano in terms of driving people's fears but in this case it might and could be real. I will always bleed BLazer colors but the future is not looking good and i just PRAY the leadership of this team wakes up and can turn it around before it's too late.

In 3 years he will be about 31?
Would the team want to give him a 5-year $200 million deal then?
Toronto gave Lowry 3 years $100 million when he was 30 or 31.
Houston just gave Paul a 4-year $160 million deal at age 33.

Posted this in the FA thread, but since it's not really about FA, this may be a better spot:
Love is on the block and apparently the Cavs are targeting the Blazers as a trade partner....

According to Jason Lloyd of The Athletic, Love is squarely on the trade block in Cleveland and one of the targeted destinations is Los Angeles, where he would reunite with James.
The Cavaliers intended to keep Love as a building block regardless of James' decision, but are interested in gauging the market now that the Lakers secured James with a four-year deal.
NBA insider Chris Sheridan reported the Portland Trail Blazers would also be a trade target of the Cavaliers.

Given that you have to view Love as a 1 yr expiring given his Player option for 19/20, I would not give up that much for him. I would not give up CJ or Collins so if we don't do one of those a trade gets a lot harder

I may consider giving up Collins for him. CJ for Love is a hard pass, as I've said before, this team needs to amass more talent together, not be swapping talented players for one other.
I'm not convinced Love will opt out next summer. He's gonna be making something like 25mil in the final year of his deal, and after how brutal this summer was for FA's, I wonder how likely he would be to opt out of that. The only scary thing for Love opting out is that both LA teams will have a lot of cap space next summer. He could rejoin James, although I'm skeptical how much the Lakers want Love given that they apparently have a mission statement to be as little like the Cavs roster as possible, plus I think they just have their eyes set on someone better than Love to be James' partner. Then there's the Clippers, they'll have tons of money to spend, but would they really make Love a priority without knowing who they're gonna build around before him? If the Clippers get Leonard though, they may want Love next to him. I donno though.... Love doesn't really seem like a Jerry West guy and I would suspect they'd want to stay relatively young.

I would not trade for Love unless you get LOVE to sign an extension ASAP ....
However and i know they would prolly say no but at this point not sure Cav's have much leverage.
I would Trade Turner and Swanigan and a 1st for Love
THEN make a deal with Cavs using the Trade Exception for Korver he makes like 7.5 million or something like that
The 1st trade is not a great one for them but if they can also get the Blazers to take Korver off there hands that will free up more money to rebuild and Korver would be a nice shooter for the Blazers.

Would you even want Love long term?
He turns 30 in early September. Even if he doesn't agree to a raise to start a new deal, he'd be making over $30 million by age 34.

I wouldn't mind having Love until he's in his mid-30's. I think the team needs to start showing Lillard they're at least trying to put a good team around him. The deal has got to be right, but he's a solid fit next to Lillard, CJ and Nurk.

He might be a more reliable shooter and rebounder than someone like Aminu or Harkless but on the defensive end ...

Re: Portland's Off-Season Has Officially Arrived
A couple of things:
1) In this era, and regardless of Lillard's cryptic tweets or clickbait opinions, I think we all have to be realistic that Lillard won't finish his career here in Portland. It's pretty rare for stars to do that now.
2) Love would actually be a decent fit next to Nurkic, IMO. However, his injuries are madness.

Love is just a lie made to make you blue.
