I didn't get to see it myself, but someone posted that Neil Olshey didn't mention Leonard or Harkless as fixtures for the future of the Blazers on espnU...

I heard some of the interview, but I must have missed that.

For what it's worth, Meyers is at the game watching the team today.

He was talking about the PF and Center position and said that (slight paraphrasing) "Swanigan and Collins are going to have to fight for minutes next season because we have guys like Vonleh and Aminu at PF and Nurkic at Center, with Davis coming back from injury, and Leonard, who is here today"

So he did mention Leonard, albeit the last guy he mentioned. He didn't mention Harkless, but he wasn't talking about wing players.

Yeah, there's nothing there to read into.

I went over to the Knicks forum to see if they've heard anything....apparently not. But they are busy imagining Portland being the dumping ground for a bunch of marginal players....while giving up Harkless, Aminu, Davis and a pick or two. Oh, Portland gets to dump Turner in a couple of the trades

Talking trades with Knick fans on the Knicks Board is about as fun as having a simultaneous discount root canal and colonoscopy.

that would be great, especially if they didn't change their surgical gloves between procedures

Let's say, for **** & giggles, that a trade involving New York, Houston, & Portland is imminent. Would you do the following:

New York gets - Evan Turner, Meyers Leonard, All-Farouq Aminu, Ed Davis
Houston gets - Carmelo Anthony
Portland gets - Ryan Anderson, Trevor Ariza, Joakin Noah, Top 10 protected Houston 1st

New York saves maybe a million or two, but unloads Melo and moves Noah for 3 useful players & Leonard.
Houston gets the player they want.
Portland FINALLY moves Turner & Leonard, but actually end up spending more money overall. They gain experience though who can teach the young'ns.

PG Lillard/Napier
SG McCollum/Crabbe/Connaughton
SF Harkless/Ariza/Layman
PF Vonleh/Anderson/Swanigan
_C Nurkic/Noah/Collins

I don't know about the financials, but I absolutely love that for the Blazers and their overall depth. Don't agree with the final depth chart you made though, I think Anderson and maybe even Ariza would start over Vonleh and Harkless. Definitely Anderson over Vonleh.

Does Houston have a pick to give?

No clue about the pick. I'm not sure if Houston would give one or not. They're they ones pushing to get Melo so it seemed like they needed to do a little something extra. Heck, if they don't have a 2018 pick, it can be a 2019 pick instead. I hear ya about the starting lineup, but I like Vonleh and Harkless with Nurkic. Ariza would do well cutting to the basket and can pick up some of those buckets, but I doubt Anderson goes for any easy buckets. I like the experience coming off the bench with those 3 though and I think the young guys could learn a few things from them.

Is it better or worse than talking trades with Bucks fans on the trade board?

With the Raps trading Carroll, a 1st and a second round pick to attain Hamilton, the market is really hard to unload bad contracts. I think more and more that we are just stuck for at least 2 more years. Please Turner, start practicing your 3 ball! If he could shoot like Crabbe, he would be a decent contract.

what if this were the trade
portland gets anderson, lin, & kilpatrick/harris
new york gets leonard, moe, & booker
houston gets melo
brooklyn gets crabbe[once he can be traded to them] & shawn long
of course some picks & cash would need to be involved
Defense and rebounding wins games

With any trades, let's not forget we are more than likely extending Nurkic next off-season.
Dammit...:

I've got Nurkic fever now.

I'll admit that pre-draft, Anderson would have made some sense. Post-draft it makes zero sense. If Olshey does this, I would very much expect to see him get ****-canned.

That would be getting too greedy I would say but then again we did also get a 1st with Nurkic for Paul Allen pocket change so who knows anymore.

Yeah and even if he could shoot 10 percent lower than crabbe From 3 he'd seem far less overpaid than he does shooting sub 30 %
