When was Rockets with Harden more of a contender than this Blazers team? Why is Harden the key to competing at a higher level when he didn't achieve that higher level after 8 years in Houston?

I'm not against trading for Harden. I'm against a bad trade. I reject the argument that any trade that gets Harden is a good one.

Huh?

Since 14/15 they have made the WCF twice and the 2nd round 5 times. They got bounced in the 1st only once in that span.

In that same timeframe we have been bounced in R1 4 times, made R2 twice and got to the WCF a single time.

The Rockets clearly have been closer to a contender than Portland for at least 6 years now.

I'd rather have Harden tbh.

I'm looking at it a little differently. If Philly trades Simmons for Harden, but now there is concern about Wall and Simmons together, perhaps Portland can swoop in and take Simmons off their hands. I know it's horribly unrealistic, but it's something different from the same ol' drivel of Harden to Portland.

I know you added the caveat 'unrealistic' but I cant fathom a GM not taking a young talent like Simmons due to his fit with a broken down, overpaid, over 30 John freakin' Wall. It would just be such poor, poor thinking IMO.
