Pretty sure the Blazers never worked out Zach Collins. Psych test and footage of 10mpg in a backup role was all Olshey needed.

He came in for an individual workout as did Bam and Donovan Mitchell

Not going to argue with you, but are you sure you don't mean John Collins?

I remember seeing some footage of Zach's individual workout in 2017. Portland never seemed really all that
interested in John Collins for they did not need to move up to get him. They did seem to have some interest
in Bam but wanted Zach more. Bam kept wanting to show teams he could shoot from 3 point range.

How many of us remember a number of us pounding the table for OG Anunoby in 2017 much like we did in 2013
when so many of us wanted Portland to go get Rudy Gobert, who went at 27. I always love the draft but we keep
giving away our picks

Seemingly, the only Portland drafted big who had a long productive career was LaMarcus Aldridge. There is a
little bit of talk of LA perhaps wanting to come back as an assistant coach on the staff of the new coach

Totally remember everybody on the board wanting Gobert. But in 2017, I was in total Ducks homer mode after their Final Four run. With three late picks, coming away will Bell, Brooks, Boucher, and Dorsey would have been my ideal draft. As ridiculous and unrealistic as that would have been, surprisingly it would have been better than Zach and Swanigan.

Still hope they can find a way to draft Chris Duarte, although from what draft reports I have been reading, he's elevated himself out of the "buy a 2nd round pick" range of the draft.

Bummer for Zach...as this could very well be a career ender.

I like the pick when it happened...as a sort of not sexy, filler pick (I wasn't super high on that draft). I feel like Zach could have been a Dale Davis-lite, stats wise. That would have been reasonable value for where he was picked, I guess...

Hope he gets to enjoy a full recovery and more basketball.

I want to go on the record as saying I didn't want Bam, Mitchell, John Collins, or Gobert in the 2017 draft. I didn't want anybody (at where we were picking). I wanted to trade all three picks plus C.J. for Paul George. We would have entered the 2017-18 season with a starting line up of Dame, PG13, Moe, Chief and Nurk, with a bench of Ed Davis, Evan Turner, Pat Connaughton, Shabazz Napier, Meyers Leonard and Jake Layman.

That is a better team than anything POR has assembled since, and it's not close. PG13 gives POR a second star who is the perfect compliment to Dame (big wing who can shoot and play defense). That team would have gone further in the playoffs than OKC did, which means George stays in POR and we load up the roster with ring chasing vets on min contracts.

But, Olshey told Indy that C.J. was untouchable. He offered all three draft picks and any two players except Dame, Nurk and C.J., and of course, Indy said no. Olshey has always been too attached to "his guys" and has never had the balls to make an all-in win now move.

Well it's official, Portland will not be tendering a qualifying offer to Zach Collins and will allow
him to be a UFA.

I think some team with plenty of cap space will gamble on him and give him a one year contract.
The OKC Thunder is a team to keep an eye on for Zach.

Bummer. I almost picked up his jersey thinking he would break out this year.
Its unfortunate because he is kinda of what we need right now. A pf who can cover out to the three, hit a three and play impact defense in the paint to help Nurk. A gritty, edgy player with an attitude ala draymond green. I mean who can forget “f, you ho!!!” to Klay Thompson?

I always felt his defense would help offset the guards lack of…

Zach Collins on his way to San Antonio 3 year for about $22 mil, very strange signing.

Technically... Not drafted by Portland. Portland Drafted Tyrus Thomas...

Your Honor, I rest my case.

Technically but its one of those draft day trades where one team drafts for another. LA never set foot anywhere
but Portland until he left as a free agent.

I forgot about Mychal who created as much angst 35 or so years ago as Batum did 20 years later.

I'm cautiously optimistic he'll be great for us if he gets healthy.
