I have no freakin' clue what will happen, but obviously it's a possibility that they will both be in Portland at the start of the season, in which case it's fun to think about how they might complement one another.

There were reports that Scoot had measured in at just under 6'4 in shoes at both workouts in Portland and Charlotte. Clyde on the draft board pointed out he was standing pretty shoulder-to-shoulder with JHS who is listed between 6'5-6'6 (not saying Scoot is that height, rather bringing validity that he may measure close to 6'4 in shoes).

I don't say this as a passing thought as I'm someone to call it like I see it. Rarely and I mean rarely do you see a kid as humble as Scoot is. He has a chip on his shoulder and has an attitude of ive gotta earn everything. He doesn't seem entitled to anything and he seems truly focused on putting in the work in practice to become elite. Hes an elegant soft spoken young man and its hard to guarantee anything in this league but I really get good vibes and feel like we have a solid solid shot at coming away from the top player in this draft or if not top the second best player in this draft

Wemby you'd obviously pick if we were 1, that's a no Brainer but his size could be an injury risk over the grind of an NBA season. But they're declaring him the goat before he's played a single nba minute. I wouldn't be shocked if people look back at this draft and say Scoot is the best player and if not the best a pretty close second to wemby.

Whats the most likely situation: The most likely scenario in my eyes is in terms of solely star power and not style of play wemby is lebron Scoot is Dwayne Wade, and Miller is maybe Melo. 2 stood out from the pack at a very similar level (lebron being the best but wade easily closer to lebron than melo to me), 1 was really really good (melo), and then the rest of the pack. Melo no doubt was a first ballot legend but there's a gap there. Miller would've been a better fit maybe but seems like a decent risk to pull a ja with the people he associates himself with. But maybe more important from an organizational standpoint would his focus be on the gym or the weekend? With Scoot I feel pretty confident it'll ne the first, with Miller wouldn't be shocked if it's the second. And in this league the people who go all in have the edge especially when that talent is met with elite level of athleticism and skill. I dont doubt Miller will be a good player but there's some major question marks with where his head is and while I'd say we'd have no choice but to take him if he fell to 3 I really like scoots chances to bring about a better return on our investment in the number 3 pick

Blazers killed the draft. Stuck to the simple principle of drafting (arguably) the BPA with all 3 picks. Rayan Rupert has a decent chance of being the steal of the draft. Just like Sharpe, Scoot probably could have gone #1 in a weaker draft. I don't particularly get the Kris Murray pick, but the Blazers aren't a free agent destination. So, if the scouts like him, one more asset.

Plenty of capital to go all-in. Plenty of potential to rebuild. Can't fault the moves. They don't fix the team, but that's what happens when you don't have a GM for a decade.

Scoot is a gem, no doubt in my mind. Still can't believe Charlotte didn't take him. Lolcats 4ever! Love the comparison to 2003 in terms of the draftees' standing at time of the draft and their prospects for success. I think all three 2003 counterparts are better, of course, but it's an apt analogy.

The fact that Murray's brother was selected in the top-5 last year stuns me though. I'm absolutely not sold on the idea that the talent gap between the two of them is really that big.
Kris doesn't seem like another "Taylor Griffin" or "Keljin Blevins" story of guys who got a chance to swag in a uniform of an NBA team simply because of their relative's connections.

Oh, I get the pick. And he likely should have went prior to #23. I just don't get telling Dame we're all-in on building a team to contend around him, and then drafting 3 rookies.

Depends on how it's presented. I think "we tried for xyz but were insteaded offered ABC garbage package" looks a lot better than "we didn't try sorry Dame you're sol." I think Cronin did right by the franchise and the fans by not jumping on a bad trade as even if it means Dame walks we probably would've only got 2 years before Dame asks out or has a major decline. Unless you have a win now move just about every franchise will pick the future star over the present short term if they're diligent

I think the bolded is close but slightly inaccurate, Scoot would've gone 1 in 90 percent of drafts from the accounts I've heard. He's more than a number 1 in a weak draft but not lebron or Victor as a prospect. But In a normal season if he's the top prospect he probably gets hyped up like rose/wall and more than sharpe was in the draft. Pretty handily stacks up as the best "prospect" on the roster imo, Charlotte really tossed us a prize passing on him

Hindsight is 2020 so who knows how they stack up but yes it'd he hard to top the 03 class which was world record level amazing

Murray is a lesser version of his brother but perhaps that's like comparing Ausar to Amen
Thompson.

The scouts say he's a safe high floor, low ceiling type of player and should be a solid role
player in Portland.

Portland did have an interesting draft for both Murray and Rupert project to be solid role
players

Doesn’t feel like his talent is being talked about enough. This a Westbrook/Rose/Morant level prospect addition. We’re not dead in the water with a Dame departure and that’s a win, either way. Scoot would have to be quite the bust.

What if Sharpe hadn't opted in last year, and had played for Kentucky? Anyone doubt that he would have torn it up in college? Then the top four in the 2023 draft would likely have been Wemby/Scoot/Sharpe/Miller.

Quite possibly he would have went top 3 if he had did what Kyrie did in college and
came back for the tournament. He was downgraded as a non competitor for sitting it
out for the 2022 draft.
