Doesnt mean much, but nice to see.

We need to be purging Miami of all talent right now since they’re offering us Tyler Herro

I would take Herro over Anfernee Simons.

Herro 6'5
Simons 6'3

Scoot with Herro give better size ...

same age (Simons a smidge older)

similar size contracts

people keep mentioning Herros D but he was -0.8 DPBM and Simons was -2.5 last year

if it were me, I'd move on from Simons and get picks for him. Put Shaedon at SF, he's 6'6 200 pounds.

Please see my post a couple mins ago on the gb…

To paraphrase - The Heat/fans trying to convince Portland herro is somehow better than their current young 2 when most people outside of Miami see it pretty neck to neck, (with ant having higher ceiling to many as well) is ok cause it’s realgm. Portland is laughing you off the phone irl if that’s a real conversation from miamis end. We’re good, we’ll trade dame elsewhere if needed..

In a vacuum I would want Herro over Simons too. Doesn’t change the fact Herro is a bad fit in Portland with or without Simons.

Sharpe is too undersized (weight wise) to play SF.

I get you’re trying to convince fans here to just take Herro, but it’s a waste of your time and energy. The teams FO has made it clear they don’t want Herro, and that’s all that matters.

It's not a bad offer, "maximum possible value" is not the only factor!

But If Portland really has no issue betraying Dame that way, hey, that's on your FO and organization to live with. Dame is 33 and at the end of his years with not much time left. If that's how they want to treat him, it's on your heads. I wouldn't sleep well at night if it were me.

In the end, my team will be just fine. We have developed some good young talent coming up the pipeline to replace the previous talent we developed (Gabe/Strus). We'll be fine. It will be ya'll having to live with a very hurt and upset Dame on your roster, or even worse.. the optics of sending him somewhere he clearly doesn't want to go.

Ya'll have a nice 4th

There are plenty of other threads to talk about Lillard, Herro and Simons. This is the summer league thread, please don't come to our forum and derail unrelated threads to continue pushing your agenda. Not cool bro.

OH dang, I was mistaken, you're right, I thought this was the offseason one. My mistake.

I didn't know where else to put this, but one thing about the new era I'm looking forward to is thirty-six minutes a game of Lamar getting crazy excited about stuff Scoot and Shaedon do on the floor as individuals and together.

JJJ and Jovic are 2 guys I like. Maybe we send Herro to Brooklyn with some salary for Simons, Clowney and a couple picks. Then take the 3 picks from MIA and we trade Dame for Simons(expiring next year and he's tall) Jovic, JJJ, Clowney and 5 firsts. Brooklyn gets off Simons and gets a guard they can use. Heat get Dame. I would hope that we can get a real center and send Nurk out with Dame nut I'm not seeing how. Maybe pair some ancillary pieces with Nurkic for a guy like Ayton? IDK

Jovic is overrated he makes Meyers look like KG on defense.

Looks good on offense but his defense looks very bad. Reminds me of Meyers how lost he is on that end at times. Just has a slow twitch.

Ya, we know Jovic isnt a true blue chip - but he is a nice prospect even if he maxes as a scoring bench forward.

Also, kid is like 20.

Jovic reminds me a lot of Lauri Markannen. He has a decisive style. Really quick release. Not afraid to take the ball to the hole and eager to seek out contact.Like the Finn, Jovic is not great defender and never will be but I hope we get him if we trade Dame to Miami. Jaquez I'm not that wild about. He does some really impressive stuff every now and then that has me thinking I'm seeing a hybrid Manu/Scola and then he does something equally stupid. On D he's going to get cooked and will be unplayable in the playoffs.

Imagine if Scoot/Sharpe just blow up in the summer league...

It might help Blazer fans get their minds off of Dame

Lauri has a wild frame, but then again he may have just put on weight since coming into the league. Dude is huge for how mobile he is.

Jovic has alot to like - his 3PT shot especially is absurdly quick, might be the quickest release I have seen from someone his size, he gets to the rim using his height, strength and craftiness despite lacking quick twitch, has a nice handle for his size, really good passer (Much better than Lauri at the same age, and probably even Lauri today). He reminds me a bit more of Hedo / Detlef than Lauri.

I also am not as high on Jamie, but would still want him. I hope Jabari Walker can bulk a bit and be a C, would really help balance the roster (Maybe that is already the plan as we currently have Nurkic and nothing at C, and of all the guys on the roster Walker has the most 'center translatable' skillset). If Walker can play C, our bigs rotation would be something like -

F - Jerami Grant / Nas Little / Rayan Rupert
F - Nikola Jovic / Kris Murray / Jamie Jacquez JR
C - Jusuf Nurkic / Jabari Walker JR / Nikola Jovic

I thought he looked OK on defense. He seemed to do an OK job staying in front of his man. He got rebounds near him and wasn't an embarrassment when he switched onto a big or a small. But largely that was in comparison to Jaime Jaquez Jr. who I thought looked udderly lost on the defensive end.

Let's hope this goes well! We need good and positive vibes, as the kids say.

Return to Portland Trail Blazers
