Piss off with the Shaedon Sharpe hate. He takes after Kawhi Leonard vibes wise. Probably Canada chill. Calipiri had nothing but compliments for the guy. If you have actual evidence that Sharpe sucks, please provide it. If it's just a local media reporter asking him what he worked on this off-season, and his response was "I worked on shooting and defense", and that somehow triggers you... Dame did that. Does Dame suck at basketball? Are you expecting a three hour response where he puts on a basketball camp explaining every offensive and defensive read he has worked on? Or a report on every jumper?

Dude might end up being a bust. But I really don't get people pushing this unmotivated narrative. No person that has worked with him is doing it. He's putting up 16ppg at 21. He was shut down due to an "injury" during our blatant end of the season tank. If you're going to bash Sharpe, back it up. Seems fair.

Did I trigger you? JFC man, chill. I never said he was lazy or sucked, but he sounds like he has a developmental disorder, or maybe he's on the spectrum (so am I), that doesn't mean he won't be good player or even a star someday but just from interviews that I've watched with players in the draft, the more intelligent ones are more successful. Take Dame and CJ for example.

I say our board is as follows:

7 - Salaun, Clingan or Holland
14- Trade up to 10/12 for Edey, Knecht or Holland

Honestly if it was, I would be ecstatic. Potentially two huge pulls from what’s the “weakest draft of all time”. Blazers current heads are great at drafting

As much as Edey could be situational back up big I don’t see him being worth a late lottery pick. 20-30 pick sure but I would rather see the team take swing at a potential player over Edey.

Buzelis is #1 on my board right now. His shooting form is fine, shot 47% on catch and shoot 3s in high school, and I think he‘ll be closer to that than his G-League numbers. His defensive and rebounding instincts are good, his handle is good, nice size, has scoring potential. I think he’s a slight step down from prime Gordon Hayward as a ceiling.

More than anything I like that he can fit in almost any line-up and doesn’t stress the system with clear weaknesses that most teams can exploit.

I don’t think there’s much of a chance he gets past 5. If I had to guess right now I’d say the lottery goes

Sarr
Clingan
Sheppard
Risacher
Buzelis
Castle
???

At 7 I don’t like Dillingham, Topic, Knecht, or Holland (His shooting is a major red flag at this point) for us, and Salaün feels like a real reach at 7.

Agree, except for the resistance to Holland.

From fit and skill set standpoint, Buzelis is the easiest fit.

I still think Holland is probably my #1 draft target (despite his shooting woes). I think he'll figure out the shooting and he'll be able to thrive in an off-ball capacity (as the 3rd or 4th offensive choice). As long as he'll accept an off-ball role, he has a floor as a good rotational player. If he figures out the shooting, he is one of the only players that I can see all-star potential.

For #7, my preference for Portland is: Sarr, Holland, Buzelis, Castle, Risacher, Williams, Edey/Clingan/Sheppard

I figure you take either of the Ignite guys, Williams, Clingan or Salaun. Imo nothing else even resembles sense. That’s 5 choices.. swing away

Then you still have another lottery pick to scoop whoever falls that shouldn’t have

I am coming back to really wanting Matas 7 after diving into his advanced metrics a bit and taking the leap that his poor shooting last season was not as 'true' as it seemed.

Also hoping we can secure a 3rd FRP and take Tyler Smith who I am totally 'in' on after a deep dive - think his shot is really going to translate.

7 - Matas Buzelis F *** Comp - Detlef Schrempf ***
14 - Zach Edey C *** Comp - Yao Ming w/ less shooting outside 10FT ***
Extra FRP - Tyler Smith F *** Comp - PJ Washington ***

On paper the future SL would be quite complimentary - you have the 'connector' in Matas, a unique offensive player who can inhale rebounds and eat people on screens in Edey and a tremendous floor stretching, finisher at PF in Smith.

G - Scoot Henderson
G - Shadeon Sharpe
F - Matas Buzelis
F - Tyler Smith
C - Zach Edey

Sharpe has gotten a lot better on the mic since those days.

Nothing here either, but I've been swamped the last couple of days and have been a bit out of the loop. Will do another Draft podcast, maybe this Sunday.

They could have at least spelled Da Silva's name correctly

If the Blazers come out of this draft with Clingan and Da Silva, I would have a hard time criticizing. Clingan projects as an eventual starter with good defensive and passing upside, and with a HUGE bbiq. FWIW, I don't think he's making it to 7.

Da Silva will likely be the best of the cadre of SF/PF prospects on the roster not named Camara. He obviously doesn't provide the rebounding that someone like Jabari brings, but I think he makes Jabari, and Murray expendable. He also would cover much of the same territory as Grant, if Grant gets traded.

Scoot/Brogdon
Simons/Banton
Sharpe/Camara
Grant/Da Silva
Ayton/Clingan

...is something I could live with, even if I hate the PG-SF situation with Simons. My hope is that the starting 5 looks like this in 2 seasons:

Scoot
Sharpe
Flagg
Da Silva
Clingan

FWIW, I'd love to see a little consolidation move into the 20s to draft a 6th man, using the 2nd rounders and existing contracts. There are a lot of great candidates in this draft: Kyshawn George, Jaylon Tyson, Terrence Shannon, Bub Carrington, Ajay Mitchell, AJ Johnson, KJ Simpson, etc...

It's interesting Marang is saying Matas and Cody Williams both had private workouts in Portland
which makes a total of 4 private workouts with Clingan and Knecht and 5 group workouts.

Presumably the private workouts with Sarr, Rsacher and perhaps two UK guards and these 4 players
are the first 8 picks with Castle in the mix

Portland seems to be targeting a second top 10 pick, for they have identified two players they
want from this draft, one of whom will not drop to 14.

Let's say they pick Clingan at 7, but want one of Holland, Salaun, Cody Williams or Perhaps Knecht
with the other top 10 pick. None of those guys will get to 14

I think I'd trade Simons + 14 to the Spurs for 8

I’ve changed my stance on Clingan. I wanted to stay away from him (this was pre-draft lottery when I thought we would get #4) but if he drops to 7 he would most likely be BPA.

He can grow slowly behind Ayton while simultaneously allowing an Ayton trade easier if he develops fast.

There's no actual newsource saying Portland is targeting a second pick in the top ten, I believe. Specifically Sean Highkin pointed out the place this is originating is a podcast where it's literally just a bunch of hypotheticals.
