Whithey is a 4 year guy, so he might be able to play a little right away. I don't expect a ton from him though. His weight is going to be a problem. He should be a great shotblocker, but he'll be terrible keeping people from backing him down.

I have been a big advocate for signing him but more as a stopgap until a young center can be developed and I don't want to be relying on Meyers Leonard as being that sole possible option to develop. We need options and we have did not get them in this draft

Also just means we didn't like the bigs in the draft or couldn't get em.

Utah obtained Gobert for the 46th pick and cash. We had 3 2nds better than the 46th . With the 45th pick we drafted a Euro player who is averaging 2.8 ppg . Will next years draft available bigs be better than this years? If so will we have a pick to draft them with? At what point do we start developing a young big to become a starter?

that is a flame of a post, Okay

1.) We have Meyers

2.) Maybe we didn't want those players for whatever reason.

3.) We could've wanted to stash a player to as an asset for future trades than pick someone who won't make our roster.

Just because draft express had a cute highlight video for Carmichael does not mean he is an impact player, At the end of the day he's not going to make the difference between wins and loses.

Yes. But you're also not taking into about that they were the bpa on several boards, including espns. Green, Muscala and Carmichael were bpa in that order.

You would really prefer jerret and that euro guy than any combo of the above mentioned players.

Carmichael didn't even get drafted.

So you don't think he should have been? I'm shocked honestly. I hope we invite him to summer league. He could contribute right away imo.

Yep. I'd guess you can probably end up saying that about 28 of the 30 guys taken in the 2nd round.

I am very excited about Cj and Crabbe is an excellent no risk high reward player to help our anemic bench.

He may not but he was something Portland didn't have...a power guy, someone who could block shots and played with some attitude. In the 2nd round, you try and get guys who can play a role, especially if you are lacking in a particular area. Portland is very soft and needed some toughness. He's not a huge game changer but if you have little toughness, why not add some.

@pinwheelempire: The Blazers have acquired Cal's Allen Crabbe in a trade with the Cavs. We'll get your details later. #ripcity #blazers

I'm guessing you mean his scouting video? Those are cute highlight videos now?

Olshey said something that the Blazers were only keeping 3 of their 4 picks but didn't say much else.

That's fine, don't think Portland's missing out on much with Jerrett.

How is it a "flame of a post"?
1) I don't like placing all of our eggs in one basket

2) We need size. We need to take a risk and the 1st rd pick cap space argument doesn't make sense to me since a late 1st is only a little more than a cap hold

3) Does Tedovic strike you as someone who will ever come over? If you don't like the players available trade it for a future 2nd

4) If we make the playoffs next season we will not have a 1st so it will be another draft where we will be unlikely to draft a big worth developing. At some point we must address the need for a long term solution for our center

Good question. Do the Celtics try and keep Rondo and hope he's a good soldier or will they ship him off?

You know, if Dallas gets Dwight instead of Houston, that may be a landing spot for Rondo. Maybe for another 2014 first rounder?

Overall this was a fun draft, definitely the most exciting one in a long time. I'm really happy we got CJ, he was my favorite prospect for months. Withey should fill a need and Crabbe looks like he can be a good 3 and D sg.

Maybe we move those other 2 picks in a bigger deal.
