Jaylen Brown pooping the bed puts us in a great position if Boston wants to avoid his max contract. I still think they build around him and Tatum but I’d do 3 plus Simons for him especially since he is only 26 with better basketball ahead.

I really hope we don’t draft him.
I think anyone in the top 5 that chooses him will regret it. I don’t like his lack of quickness and poor penetration and finishing.
Scoot/Amen at 3 and trading down for Ausar are the only things I am looking at if we keep the pick.

How about this 3 team trade:
Raptors trade: Pascal Siakam, OG Anonoby
Raptors get: Anfernee Simons, Shaedon Sharpe, Sam Hauser, #3 pick
Celtics trade: Jaylen Brown, Robert WIlliams III, Sam Hauser
Celtics get: Pascal Siakam, Jusuf Nurkic, #23 pick
Portland trades: Shaedon Sharpe, Anfernee Simons, Jusuf Nurkic, #3, #23
Portland gets: Jaylen Brown, OG Anonoby, Robert Williams III
Celtics do a little shake up while staying in contention, Raptors do a rebuild, Portland builds a contender around Dame

Mortgage the foreseeable future for a big two that lasts about 3 years and probably wins nothing. The saving grace is that in theory the team hired a draft guru to help us hit on players potential.

I don't follow college nearly enough, is there a Joe lunchbucket, garbage man, Buck Williams/ Charles Oakley type in this draft?

Good question. I like lunchpail and hardhat dudes. One guy I really liked for his logical, methodical approach to D was Shane Battier.
So, I'll pick a guy who's a 1st rounder who should be a solid pro -- Kris Murray. Not a banger so much as a smooth athlete like his lottery climbing brother ... but 20 and 8 while scaling up on nearly double the minutes ... a player with a good floor in the 20s. Got to volume on 3's with a dip in % but not concerning.

Jarace Walker is that guy, but he is a near lock to go Top-10 - and I would bet Top-7.
Kris is a good call - not a real Buck / Oak type, but a guy that is near guaranteed to be a Top-8 rotation caliber guy. Decent at everything, master of none type.

I second the Jarace Walker mention. I would happily trade down with Orlando (WCJ, 6, 11) or Indiana (Turner, 7, 26) and take Walker. I love his motor and skill set.

Doubt Walker would be a star player, but he's this years Jeremy Sochan, just a good solid guy
to do the things most of Portland's roster doesn't do which is all the grunt work.
One of my dream trades would be Scoot going second and Portland trades down with 1-2 spots
to draft Walker or perhaps Amen Thompson while picking up a useful asset like Tari Eason from
the Rockets

Big fan of this as well. I rate Eason as about as good a prospect as Miller honestly.
Brandon has a better J but Eason was better than expected shooting and likely improves moving forward. It’s the hustle he brings that I love, and Miller won’t ever have that motor. See Eason as a Marion type.
Would go Jarace still with 4. In love with a 2-4 long term of Sharpe / Eason / Jarace.
Don’t think HOU does it tho.

It'd be interesting Scoot is there at 3, what offers Portland could get in a trade up.
If its Orlando, Id have to ask for Franz Wagner. I'm not settling for 6,11 from Orlando.
If Scoot shows he can make his open shots, there will be big demand at 3, if the Hornets still take Miller at 2. One has to think there will be big crowds to see his workouts in Portland/ Charlotte

They have zero reason to trade Wagner though, I’m sure if 6/11 was rejected and that proposed, they hang up the phone.

I don’t see the reason CHA is assumed to take Miller. Scoot is in a tier of his own and there is no reason Ball and Scoot can’t work. I would be floored if CHA passes on Scoot.
Ball has developed a nice 3 and is 6’7. It’s not like your pairing 2 6’3 non shooters together.

Yeah, but both need the ball in their hands to be effective. Ball could probably not initiate, but he’s great at it…why would you dumb down the skillset of your best player? Scoot ABSOLUTELY needs the ball in his hands at this stage…
Anyway, it CHA’s problem to figure out. I’ll be happy with whatever is left over. For the record, I’m not as high on Scoot as most…he has no left hand. And forces passes way too often, and he has a bad habit of getting himself stuck in the air with nowhere to go—which will only get worse against NBA defenders/fenses. I actually think his shooting will be fine…not great, but fine.

Charlotte has to be in talent acquisition mode AND the draft with tiers and BPA is about exactly that — the standard answer.
If Scoot is in his own tier, then he’s the answer for the Pels. Trade Rozier. See what they have in a healthy Ball and Scoot. BUT they’re the Pels.

Without knowing much about amen sometimes it's tempting to think amen is more appealing than scoot given the height advantage. But I think you take the bpa whoever you think that is if you're cronin (unless the pick is dealt)

It depends on the workouts for if Scoot works out as their tier two athlete he's supposed to be, the position he plays
(PG) might be in 2023, the most important position on the court.
Orlando with the sixth pick could easily replace Wagner with Ausar Thompson or perhaps Walker

Amen's shot is pretty wildly broken in terms of mechanics. It's not just that he isn't shooting well like Scoot, it's that the form is pretty damn wonky. Even with the work he's put in. I don't know if he can get it off consistently at an NBA level.

I've been monitoring the Charlotte board and assuming Miller ends up working out well (after mono),
they all think Miller's fit with Charlotte's roster will trump Scoot's higher tier rating.
It'll be interesting how Chauncey will evaluate Scoot and his individual workout. Scoot is unlikely
to ever be a 3 point shooter but is more of a traditional NBA PG prior to Steph Curry. Scoot has to
show in his workouts, he can make his mid range shots off of dribble penetration.

Ya, some MKG vibes from that shot. Shame, love nearly everything else he brings.
But sometimes a shot is just so broke it cant be fixed. MKG, MCW, Killian, etc
