I think Deron would come here. He spent all those years in Utah so he clearly isn't worried about the big markets. We have a talented club. And you can run me out of town for saying this, but I would let Batum walk if it meant having the money to get Deron.

Yeah, I'm starting to get the feeling that NJ is going to get Anthony Davis to open their new Brooklyn arena. Basketball reasons

Looks to me like the 4-7 spots are going to be fairly unsettled until the end of the season. 1-3 with Charlotte, Washington and New Orleans are basically locked into those spots. Then 8 and beyond are fairly well locked in.

I may check out Detroit, NJ, Toronto and the Kings schedules to see what they've got left.

Stern cares much more about restoring respectability to New Orleans than keeping the Russian billionaire happy, and the Hornets have a much better statistical chance to win.

I can see the Nets winning a top 3 pick, but I think New Orleans get's Anthony Davis.

The mock draft keeps picking Bradley Beal as our first pick....thoughts?

I noticed that too, but I don't really want him. I'd take Barnes or Drommound first, despite my reservations about Drommound

measured out previously at 6'3.5" with shoes on. He's basically the same height, weight, reach as Westbrook and Jarret Jack. In other words, you CAN play him at the 2, but it's not good size for it.
I am not a fan of small SGs, and would pass.

yep...looks like Nets are in full tank mode. The teams ahead of them, Charlotte, NOH, and Wash will be difficult to catch though. They can lose games as well as anybody. If NJ finishes 4th, there's a 60% chance Portland gets the pick, although it could end up as the 5th, or even 6th pick.

If the Blazers are in the 11th or 12th position in the lottery, it will be an exciting lottery party

I do wonder though how much Davis would help if Deron leaves as expected.

I've decided I am all for nets playing really bad and going down to 4th. Even if nets get their lotto, there is always next year, which might actually have better players at the very top than this year

they don't have to go down to 4th, they are already there, with a 2 game lead on the 5th place team

Here's the Nets schedule for the rest of March....

vs WAS
@ ATL
vs CHA
vs UTA
vs IND
@ GSW
@ SAC

Lot of lottery teams in there. But as terrible as the Nets are, it's hard to determine how they'll do against the fellow league worsters.

Here is their April schedule.....

@ LAL
@ POR
vs WAS
vs CLE
vs PHI
@ PHI
vs BOS
vs MIA
vs NYK
@ MIL
vs PHI
@ TOR

Strange that they get the Sixers 3 times in April. Regardless, that's a much tougher schedule.

the Nets already have a 2 game 'lead' in the loss column in the race for 4th. I don't think they can sink to 3rd. The 3 teams ahead are just too weak.

But unless the Nets get hot or another team gets cold, it looks like they could easily end up in 4th, pre-lottery. That still gives the Blazers a 60% chance of getting the pick, bit it may very well would be the 5th pick instead of the 4th

the problem for the Nets is that a bad finish to this season on top of DH opting is could just about insure that the Nets suck next season because Deron would likely leave

Most likely, it won't be terrible if the Nets are in the top 3 this year. However, if they win the lottery, I could easily see them offering GW, Lopez, and Anthony Davis for Howard and Hedo. If that is the case, then Orlando would seemingly have to accept, and a Deron/Dwight core would make the nets solid next year, pushing them into the playoffs. Heck, even the #2 or #3 pick might make that trade happen. For that reason, I would much rather have the pick now. Just to make sure that the Nets don't have an amazing offseason and then make the playoffs.

Who did we get with our picks?

I still haven't got us at #1 and I've hit that darned button too many times.

At #2 and 3 he had us drafting MKG
At #4 we go with Beal every time
At #5 we draft Barnes
At #10 we draft Perry Jones
at #11 we draft Zeller
