Don't need to be so quick to give up.

What I saw of Babbitt was a guy who seemed confused about his role on our team. Almost as if Nate never sat him down and laid out what he needs. All we need from him is for him to spread the floor with his three point shot, but every time I saw him touch the ball he looked like he had no idea what to do.

Problem with Babbit is he isnt a 3 point shooting specialist. His penchant for being a dead-eye shooter is overrated, much like Adam Morrisons was. He is actually more of a scorer.
I truly think Diebler has a better chance of being a NBA rotation player than Luke.

This is a waste of money. The guy simply can't function during half the time he is on the court. He's too small to play defense against PF's and not quick enough to play defense against SF's. And his offense isn't that great. The only reason I can see for doing this is for an expiring contract for a trade.

Love how everyone just throws a second year player under the bus when he hasn't even gotten any playing time. He really didn't know his role on the team at all and as for him not being a dead eye three point shooter whenever one of the assistant coaches is asked about him they talk of him shooting the lights out in practice. I don't get the starter of this threads outcry about 1.89M for Babbit when our star player is going to be making 17m with knees as good as your grandpa's. Wait tell he actually gets some burn before running him over with the bus.

The Blazers also picked up Elliot Williams' option as well. But notice they didn't pick up Armon Johnson's, yet they gave a qualifying offer to Patty Mills?

I think it is time to give serious playing time to Babbit and Williams. We all know what Roy, Matthews, Wallace, Batum and Aldridge can do. The Blazers should try and give Babbit and Williams a 10 game burn early during the season to see if these guys are contributors..

Johnson signed a 2 year deal.
He is under contract for next year, and then will be a RFA requiring a QO. It's just like Mills, but he is 1 year behind in the process.

I think Johnson has a contract like that of a first round pick. Mills did not.

In college he was, dude was 42% from 3 and 92% from the line. I wouldn't take much from last year in regards to Babbitt, the guy was terrified out there.

I've been saying it for a year now, Luke Babbit CANT play in the NBA. I saw him play several times in college when he was at Nevada which plays in the WAC, or also known as the "Western NON-Athletic Conference." Babbit was putting up numbers against poor defensive teams and was the go to player in their offense. He's slow, can't defend, and simply a waste of a roster spot. Stop drinking the Wolfpack Koolaid PA.

Those are great stats... if he played in the BIG EAST, ACC, or BIG 10. The guy played in the WAC. I dont mean to come down hard on Babbit, but common theres just some players who's games only fit in the college game and don't translate to the NBA. If Adam Morrison couldn't make the transition, Babbit can't.
As far as Diebler, setting an all time record for threes in the Big 10, now thats impressive! Best scenario- Kyle Kover.

Babbitt looks worthless, but I don't see why you give up any asset you don't have to. For $1.9 who knows, but it isn't going to prevent other cap-space moves if we hold onto him another year.

Babbitt has more potential as an undersized PF who can stretch the defense and create space against slower defenders than against SF. Its also easier to add weight than it is to add quickness. He was a tweener coming out of college but I don't think hell be able to play the 3 at the nba and needs to add weight to play the 4.

I suppose I don't mind this move since the team is one year removed from having drafted Battit at 16, but it seems like if they were ever to decline a player this would've been the time.

all I know is if the dude wasn't white but possessed the same exact athleticism (which is decent) and performance so far people would still be high on the guy. He can jump he can rebound and if he gets passed the deer in the headlights he may get some consistency to his shot.
Thinking like a GM, it would be stupid to not extend the QO as he is an asset that will only potentially increase his trade value.
