Since this season seems to be a forgetful rebuilding ( albeit-exciting) one, I figured we could get a jump start on theses guys and what the general thoughts are on who we should target given different scenarios.

(PF/C) C. Zeller--20ppg 9.5rpg 2.0blks
(PF/C)Noel------9.0ppg 4.0rpg 3.0blk
(F)Mcadoo--22.5ppg 12.5rpg 1.0asts
(G)A.Goodwin--16ppg 2rpg 2asts

Love this pick:
http://nbadraft.net/players/alex-lenAlex Len is a BEAST and athletic seven footers would be entertaining!

Interesting seems to be having a good first year. Can never have too many 7 footers.

To me its all about Shabazz. A LIllard/Shabazz backcourt would be special. Probably the best PDX backcourt since Drexler/Porter. Noels scares me with his total lack of size. Everyone else seems like a nice player lacking star power.

So win the lottery or bust?

I like Archie Goodwin a lot... He would give us a nice ball handler at the two and has an aggressive attacking mindset. Got some work on his jumper but its not broke what so ever.
Nerlens is nice but he is very raw and jumps at every pump fake. Not quite a Davis prospect but he might actually be a better leaper than Davis.
Also on Kentucky poythress and willy cauley are easily lotto prospects in my mind.

Seriously, I'm not the one to crush dreams and whatnot but realistically I don't see any chance in us getting Shabazz.
I see Orlando getting the first pick and it's without a doubt between Shabazz or Zeller. I know Orlando's FO is dumb as bricks but I don't see them passing on Shabazz.
We are bad this year, but at this rate with our starters playing 40 minutes a night, I don't see us out-tanking Orlando, Detroit, Charlotte, Washington, New Orleans, Cleveland, Phoenix, and possibly Golden State and Toronto.
We should get a pick around 8-12 realistically. And we should in my opinion get the best ball-handling swingman. Although this draft is loaded with 7 footers, all we need is for Freeland to show his real self and I'd be content with an Aldridge/Leonard/Hickson/Freeland/Jeffries 4-5 rotation.

POR always goes to the project big no matter what, if we get a late lotto thats probably what we end up with

Shabazz or bust. He's a franchise changer, and I would tank hard to get him. If we land around the 4-6 worst record I think we'll win the lottery. Besides, I'm a conspiracy theorist when it comes to the draft, and I honestly think it will come down too either Portland or Orlando winning the number one pick. Orlando lost Dwight so the league will probably give the pick to them. However, we lost Oden AND Roy so you never know.
We'll probably end up with the 2nd pick, so I just hope we don't pick up Zeller. I was high on him for a second until I watched some scouting footage on him. His weaknesses are huge, and he only has a 6'8 wingspan, not too mention he's only 200 lbs.

Lots of intriguing big man prospects, unsure how many will declare this year.
I believe Noel is very raw (and thin) and Zeller's defensive worries will be huge in the NBA.

What, no PG??? Portland cannot break tradition!
Chase, if the league was going to hand the Blazers the first pick because of the loss of Oden and Roy, that pick would have been this past summer. Sorry Pal, the fix is not in for the Blazers.

We would have had to jump from 11... and the Hornets had priority over us in terms of being fixed.
Plus we still have Aldridge, Batum and got a good draft pick in Lillard - so I doubt the league feels the need to give us anything more - if you believed in conspiracy theories

.
If the conspiracy theories hold true, Orlando will get the pick. Guess we will see what happens.
Also, I don't like Zeller either. Ceiling is Kaman imo.

do you guys think that if we were in the top 5, would we draft one of those Cs or try to find a partner for lillard in the back court? my guess is even though the team is made up of bigs at this point we would still go for a C. im wondering how good that alex len kid is, nbadraft has him going to us at #7 has anyone seen him play?
also, just saw this Isaiah Austin kid, pretty much a 7 footer with a 9'6 standing reach? thats crazy. he also weighs about as much as damon stoudamire did when he played in portland...

I would still go BPA for we have a crying need for another wing player and a big
physical player up front, especially if Hickson leaves.

The guy I will be watching this year is Kentavious Caldwell-Pope from Georgia. I didn't see much of him last year (since UGA basketball doesn't get anywhere near as much TV time as UGA football) but based on what I saw in film of him from HS, he could be that 6th man/bench scorer that we desperately need.

Alex Len is an intriguing prospect indeed I will be playing close attention to him this year.

Yup my thoughts exactly and the great thing about it I think he can be got outside of the top 5.

We need a Damian Lillard of swingmen in this draft.
Someone that knows how to flat out score.
Or trade that pick for a scorer to come off our bench. We need a James Harden/thisyear Jamal Crawford type of player. A ballhandler, scorer, playmaker at the 2/3 (but of course so does the rest of the league).
