ESPN is doing their annual top 100 NBA player list. So far they have done 100 - 31. Aminu landed at #100, Nurkic at #75. Soooo, that means they either don’t think CJ is a top 100 player OR they have him in the top 30. Either seems like a real stretch.

OK, WTF is up with this? Wolves are willing to trade Butler to Houston for Gordon and Tucker, and the Rockets refuse because of TUCKER? This can't be real. https://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/251345/Wolves-Seeking-Eric-Gordon-PJ-Tucker-From-Rockets-For-Jimmy-Butler Why would the Wolves want to help create another super team in the West?

My guess is because Tucker is actually pretty valuable and versatile for them, playing 4 positions...especially on a 4 year 8M deal (which is great value), I would hesitate too if we're talking a Butler--a player that may bolt, doesn't fit longterm salary cap, and has ended up being a headache in two cities that he's played for. And that's not even counting giving up a 6th man of the year recipient.

As for your last question? They probably don't...but Butler has their hands tied a little bit here. He's forced them into a "between a rock and a hard place" position. Although, apparently Thibs ignored Butler's trade request earlier in the offseason, so....

I don't know if the proposal is real but the math is simple. The role Gordon plays is improved by Butler. But, if the role PJ plays is more significant than the improvement Butler adds to the Gordon role and PJ's departure creates a deficit that isn't easily filled, than its not a good deal for the Rockets. Additionally, adding Butler and subtracting Gordon and PJ could make the Rockets worse, because the shooting of Gordon is more valuable to Rockets than the defense and interior scoring of Butler. A team is made by how the parts work together.

ok then...the Lakers and the Rockets got into a scuffle last night, and the genesis of the event seems to be Rondo spitting on Chris Paul. Then, punches thrown and Brandon Ingram going berserk with sucker punches

I've been plenty critical of the Portland roster, but it sure doesn't appear to have any players that would behave that low

Spitting should be an exception to the punch rule. You should be allowed to punch anyone that spits on you. Rondo and Ingram should get long suspensions. Ingram threw a sucker punch. Ingram should get the longest suspension allowed for throwing a punch.

Spitting should get a longer suspension than a punch between players in a mutual conflict. The only thing that can make a punch worse than spitting is increased risk of injury from a sucker punch or when a player is vulnerable.
