Too early for the draft thread?

Troy Brown might be available later in the 1st round and the Duck would be a perfect fit at SF...

I don't know about that... his weakness is 3 point shooting. I think his game is familiar to Evan Turner

He's taking about 3 times as many 3's as turner (in college) per game and his form doesn't look bad. His solid FT shooting in his freshmen year gives me hope.

Versatile player. I think he backs up the PG spot for the ducks as well.

If we're looking at potential good fits, I'll throw out Hamidou Diallo. Still not super efficient, but extremely athletic, long, and a ton of potential. Probably going before we pick though, and not sure we have the assets to move up this year. Not a fan of the back half of this draft this year TBH. At least not this early in the year. Maybe I'll see someone who pops out a little later, but so far, I'm a bit underwhelmed, especially in our areas of need

I can see Neil Olshey going after Dzanan Musa, hes SF/SG, hes white and Olshey drafted a lot of white players and hell be in our pick range...

I suspect our draft position will be somewhere around 20ish. I am very meh on Brown who feels like on those ok at everything but elite at nothing players you can grab late in every draft. He doesnt shoot well enough from the wing to fit stotts offense. Honestly Mo Harkless comes to mind when I think of Brown.

Most of us would celebrate if we used the pick to dump Turner

I would like to see them draft an upperclassman or mature euro with a non lottery pick. It is fine to draft a teen like ZC who you think will be a rotation player right away, but guys like that are not often available late in the first round. Guys who are only ready to play when they become RFAs are bad investments. A couple of years at the end of the bench followed by an overpay.

I don't think he's going to slide into the late teens / early 20's... I do like Diallo, Knox, Musa, or if we get lucky someone like Miles Bridges gets (Mich. St.) "overthought" because he didn't come out last year. He feels like the kind of guy who might slip to the Blazers.

We need a guard who can distribute or a 3&D SF, pretty good on shooting guards and pretty good on big men.

Too early? Are you serious? The 2017 draft was ages ago.

An early, interesting candidate for a SF who can shoot and make basketball plays: Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk from Ukraine.
A senior listed at 6'8 playing SG at Kansas. And he looks like he can play SG, but at 6'8, he may fit the need Evan Turner was supposed to fill -- secondary ball handler with some play making. I'll have to see more video ...

Yeah, I would doubt it too...but he hasn't shown much expansion of his game so far this year. Honestly, outside of 3 or 4 players I'm not that high on this draft. There are a lot of players with some pretty major holes in their games if they are going to be good players in the current NBA. I'm not seeing a lot of shooters, for one thing...

This draft could be very important if what the league thinks happens which is Portland listening to
offers for CJ

Yep, I really liked himast year. Seems like the type of guy who greatly out produces his draft position.

as long as it's a draft thread. how about an 'analysis' of expectations based upon draft slot; from Draft Express:

http://www.draftexpress.com/nba-draft-pick-expectations

there is a good interactive chart there that you can control with your cursor.

for instance, if Blazers have the 19th pick, the expectation chances are:

5% - all-star
11% - starter
41% - backup
29% - end of bench
14% - will not play in NBA

they have definitions in a box on the right side of the page

where Portland will likely be picking doesn't offer much hope for a difference-maker
