Any Interest in trading for Andrew Wiggins?

Post#1 » by BlazersRizing » Mon Jun 18, 2018 10:35 pm

on Jalen and Jacoby.. Jalen said it's highly likely the Wolves trade Wiggins before training camp due to Jimmy Butler and him clashing... still lots of unreached potential and more athletic than any Blazer so should the Blazers try to make a trade? what would be a fair deal?

I’m pretty low on Wiggins. Any package I would put together would be laughed at by Minnesota.

Man...IDK. Lillard/McCollum/Wiggins next year would cost about $79m. That's crazy. The Wolves are in their own cap hell as well. Would they really want what we would have to give, some combination of Turner/Harkless/Aminu/Leonard? Wiggins salary is a Poison Pill so it's averaged out to about 26m to match salaries. I wouldn't include Collins, and I'm sure thats who they would want. So that leaves Swanigan, #24, and future picks. It looks like their 2019 FRP goes to Atlanta, so they'd want the Blazers for sure.

Blazers: Turner + Harkless/Aminu + 24 + 2019 FRP
Wolves: Wiggins

It would have to be something along those lines, and i'm not sure thats the package they're looking for. I'd assume they would want some younger players/picks with potential to be higher. But that's what I would offer.

Meh....I'd be fine trading CJ and Meyers for Wiggens, Tyus Jones, the Wolves #20 draft pick this year, and some other future first rounder.

We all know Wiggens has more potential than CJ. We also know Wiggins' work ethic is in question It would be a gamble on Portland's part to take a chance on Wiggens being able to turn it around. Either way, it gets us good enough to go farther in the playoffs or bad enough to get back into the lottery. One concern is the length of that outrageous contract and the inevitable rebuild in PDX. I think CJ has 3 more years and Wiggens has 5?

On the other hand, CJ gives the Wolves much needed shooting and I'm sure Butler would be happy without Wiggens on the team and would probably re-sign with the Wolves.

Ooof. Wouldn't offer McCollum. Maybe some combo of turner + one of Harkless/Aminu. And I only do that because I know I'm a terrible gambler. Wiggins has about the same impact on the game as ET and his contract will be for roughly 25% of the cap until 2023...

I'd consider Cj for Wiggins but the thought of giving a division rival a 23 ppg shooter is a bit frightening

My thoughts too.

That said, there's something weird in Minnesota and I can't tell what. Literally no one seems to enjoy playing with their teammates there, seems like there's been nothing but rumblings that this guy isn't happy with this other guy, or this guy doesn't like that, etc.

Look at all these stories after their season:

Is Wiggins at the heart of that, is Butler just being a dramaqueen, is Towns upset at Thibs... like who knows? One thing is for sure though, I don't think that roster is going to be sustainable for the Wolves and they're probably in store for one more big shakeup before all is said and done. And maybe with that shakeup, some of these guys bust out of their coma a bit... Wiggins being one of them.

NOPE, I would rather have CJ than Wiggins, and I would take Lillard over Wiggins easily. This would have to be a trade with our current best 3 players off the table and even then I can't imagine I find an offer that I feel is good for Portland and reasonable for the Wolves.

That's a great big HELL NO, from me.

I would much rather have Tyus Jones on the team than Napier. Also, Thibs' style is outmoded and hurts more than it helps with today's player.

This might be a hot take but I don't think I would even trade Leonard + Turner for him because of the size and length of his contract.

He'll be making $33 million in 2023!

My pet theory is that Thibbs is a hard coach to play for.

I wonder if Blazer fans would be interested in trading CJ for a different wing from the same draft... Kyle Anderson. By many measures Anderson has been the better player thus far.

I thought not. :)
