Denver or San Antonio: Would would you rather play?

Post#1 » by wjun15 » Fri Apr 26, 2019 5:29 am

Im having a hard time rooting for one over the other.

On one hand, Denver has zero playoff experience (outside of Millsap).

However on the other hand, we have HCA over San Antonio.

Personally, I would rather play the Spurs, but Pop absolutely scares me during the playoffs. If Pop somehow has Derrick White playing even 60% of Dame, we could be in for trouble.

I just got done watching the highlights and one thing that struck me was how low each team's bigs play on the high pick and roll Basically Dame and CJ are going to be getting open 3s or be able to drive on their bigs. Jokic, Aldridge and Poetl are even less able to defend in space than Adams.

I really don't have a strong preference.

I want the Blazers to play whichever team loses game 7. :naaa:

I think Blazers can beat either team. Blazers really got a good break in the brackets this time. There is no easy path through the west, but we can get to the WCF without having to first face Warriors or Rockets.

They look pretty even. So I’ll vote for the team that gives Portland HCA, and doesn’t require Portland to play it’s road games at high altitude.

HCA is a good point. I think Nuggets have by far the best backcourt defenders and that matches up well against the Blazers. Plus, Joker is the best player. I think Blazers would stomp Spurs in a series.

Who cares? Let those two teams combine against the Blazers. With ET and Hood playing at least at their average, and the rest playing like last series, no one beats the Blazers in the second round.

Nurkić is out. Kanter is injured. so at center the Blazers can either go up against Jakob Poeltl with home court advantage, or Nikola Jokić without. I'll take my chances with the Spurs, although Vegas has Denver as 6 point favorites.

With Kanter questionable, absolutely want home court advantage.

I think San Antonio is a better matchup and we would have home court. I think we can beat either team though if we see some great games from Lillard+CJ.

The Spurs are winning this poll in a landslide almost 20-0 on the voting.

I'll be the lone decenter as I think SA is a much tougher opponent. Maybe much tougher is a bit much, but I think they're better equipped to take advantage of the Blazers flaws and seeing as the Blazers defensive philosophy is to close out on shooters, clog the lane and leave teams forced into taking mid-range jumpers, I think that plays right into the Spurs strengths with LMA and DeRozen.

Then again, I do want HCA....

That's just a long way of saying I have no real preference, either is going to be a challenge.

The reason Spurs are where they are is they have really good players. Everyone knows DeRozan and Aldridge are good. White is also very good. And, their role players are good. Spurs are not pushovers, but they are not as talented as the team we just beat. Nuggets might be more talented than OKC.

I would be very surprised if San Antonio didn’t go with Aldridge at center much of the time if Kanter is out. I would think San Antonio would go smaller with Mills, Forbes, DeRozen, Gay, and Aldridge.

I like Zach Collins starting in that matchup!

Spurs might have won if they could have got a rebound the last couple minutes.

Maybe if they fouled at the end

That was such a.. perplexing end. Don't foul down four with thirty seconds left on a Nuggets team that has already missed five free throws. Then.. actually get the rebound with two and a half seconds left..

With a timeout..

BUT DRIBBLE IT OUT???
