Just rewatched the first quarter and the score had nothing to do with ice defending of pick and roll. Had much to do with transition off of steals and missed Portland makeables near rim.

How does a bad defense explain the top rated offense getting less than 80 pts in three quarters, especially given steals leading to transition baskets?

Rewatched second quarter--three scores related to ICE--one on out-of-bounds play and two, in last minute and half, more bad defense by guards than the defense itself. Most of Warrior offensive damage in transition and early offense (as opposed to set offense).

Rewatched third quarter--two threes came off of ICE pick and roll. Both related more to ball defender allowing the handler to break to the middle. They should force high to the sidelines for ICE to be effective. But again the main problem was transition and early offense, not ICE (which actually can be credited with at least two stops). Need to have late lunch, next quarter needs to wait. Observation: Mark Jackson is doing an on-air interview for Stotts' job. Humorous that he is slamming a set defense that is holding thusfar the NBA's best offense to 77points (many of which are the result of preset defense necessitated by steals and distant defensive rebounds).

4th quarter--two three related to ICE coverage of p/r--one by Curry. Again far more from transitions. Conclusion: The Mark Jackson (from 1st possession on) echo chamber bizarre.

BTW, the Buucks/Raptors game had each team with far more uncontested shots than in Blazers' 1st game. I think perceptions get distorted about the availability of uncontested shots when the shots are converted.
