I haven't listened to the radio or heard Wheeler in over a year, maybe 2 years. I guess I'm not going to miss him. Nothing against Wheeler, I liked him back when I used to occasionally hear from him.

He's also the 2nd worst radio guy behind that other guy. Maybe the other guy was better, but I can't remember.

Brian Wheeler officially retires

Post#7 » by zzaj » Sat Jul 13, 2019 12:40 am

Didn't see it anywhere and thought that it was post-worthy. 21 years is a long time. I thought he was a GREAT play-by-play announcer, and IMO one of the great Blazers broadcasters of all-time...

His "...once again we can say, it's a great day to be a Blazer." after wins was a personal favorite.

What, you want Eddie Douchette, or whatever his name was, to come back?

I didn’t notice discussion there. Mods, I feel like it deserves it’s own thread, but understand if it keeps things cleaner by deleting this thread...

I could sense this was going to happen at some stage due to his health issues. Wheels was absolutely awesome. Before League Pass became a reliable thing, Wheels was the first way I tuned in to Blazer games regularly during the 2006-07 season after immigrating to Australia. His passion for the Blazers and his enthusiasm were wonderful. I still think of Roy as "The Natural" because of him, and that crazy 13-game winning streak during the 2007-08 season was so thrilling to experience in large part due to his commentary.

Godspeed, Wheels!

That is a very distant #2 but I guess I agree by default considering the other options.

Return to Portland Trail Blazers
