I don't believe will enter it a better team than last year. I think making the playoffs is about 50/50 as an 8th seed right now.

So, you are saying the Blazers will be 8th seed or worse.

That's what I believe, yes. They're going to need a miracle to do better than that at this point.

Ok, I believe they will be 7th seed or better. How much do you want to bet?

nobody comes back from an ruptured Achilles. Let's hope for the best for Rodney.

I do think the way the team was setup was indicative of NO's priorities for the team after
Zach went down, was paper thin with more or less guys on veteran's minimum contracts.
Hopefully the team will not panic and hurt themselves by a short term fix with teams
like the Knicks who want their FRP. I would sit Zach for the rest of the season and bring
Nurk back very slowly with an eye towards being completely ready in fall camp.

Team can still have a good season with the players on hand but the goal is to look to see
if those expiring contracts can first jump start the off season or be allowed to expire
which would drop $48 Million of their cap.

Yes hopefully his achilles tendon isn't ruptured. Tear is a vague term. There are 3 grades to a strained tendon. Grade 1 can be considered small amounts of tearing, while grade 3 is fully torn (ruptured). Either way looks like the expectation is that Hood is out for the season.

Nothing against Hood, but Blazers are going to be better with Hood out of the lineup. Blazers need a high energy player and Hood doesn't fit our need, IMO. Anything that Hood added in skills, Melo does better.

Rather than focus on arguing over the playoffs, let's pray for Rodney Hood.

At least he's taken care of through next season and can properly rehab his injury with an eye towards
joining up with Nurk and Zach.

Blazers aren't going to be able to replace Hood. Losing a 49% 3pt shooter is huge for this team. He was quietly having a very consistent season...

I'm amazed that in modern medicine, when a player is complaining about a sore achilles, there isn't a procedure to check if there is inflamation, weakening or micro-tears in that tendon.

Gotta question whether Hood should have even played tonight. He left the last game because it was sore, now tonight he tears it or whatever. Should he have rested instead? Can the Blazers get an injury exception to sign another player? Of course, who would that be? What's the latest update with Nurkic and Collins?

my focus was on the Duck game and I had a fellow Duck alum over to watch it with me. Rumor is we might have had a in-front-of-tv-tailgate-party for 4 hours. I might have drunk something...but that's just a rumor

occasionally looked at the Blazer game, but about every time I did the Laker were up big and Lebron or AD was making a shot...and occasionally Dame was getting fouled without a whistle

didn't know about the Hood injury till the end of the game. That sucks for him, bigly. And I think the Blazer medical staff needs to answer some questions. Shades of Durant so there's no real excuse for letting that history repeat with Hood

Portland is now 1-9 against teams with winning records and have lost 8 in a row. That's discouraging enough without all the injuries although those things probably are connected. Dame and CJ's minutes should be dropped to 30 or less a game, and all the young guys should get plenty of burn to see what their potential really is. I can't see any realistic trade that would change this team's trajectory

Rodney has a contract. We can't fire him.
