Oof- sorry, I missed the UCLA and Raiders icons. We may indeed be on different pages here.

Noah is waived. Blazers have over $600k left to spend. That could be a vet signed before the deadline to add to the playoff roster.

I guess the Clips needed to make room for Reggie Jackson. I'm starting to worry just a little about Olsheys view, that our ballhandlers' depth is just fine. To Dame's credit, he has become a better and more willing distributor of the rock over the last couple years. CJ, not so much. He does deliver the occasional dime, but he's a shoot first, second, and third type of SG... a scorer, and being a true PG seems unnatural for him. Then there's Simons, who's clearly working hard to learn how to be that true PG that can run the offense, but is he ready for prime time? Mario is gone now, so if something happens to Dame or CJ (god forbid), he will need to be ready because there is no body else.

Not too worried though, because I know Olshey could always make a trade if Simons doesn't meet his benchmarks, or doesn't look up to the task. Also, there's the chance Olshey is right in his evaluation, and Simons improves upon last years growth, and looks even better than anyone on here expected.

Practices have begun... Holy crap! I can't wait 'til the first preseason game. Couple weeks from now?

I like CJ's basketball takes better than Stotts. Maybe CJ will be a head coach.

Based on years past, if Lillard and CJ stay healthy, there is no need for another PG as one of those two will always be on the court and handling the ball.

Somewhat like last season, there are guys who are recovering from injuries going into the start of the season. I hope it goes a lot better than last season but it's possible there will be some guys missing more time or unable to play at full strength.

Zach said his injury is a 4-6 month recovery and he is at month 3. So the January date is in line with 4 months.

Hood said he feels good but he hasn't played any 5v5 yet.

CJ had a broken vertebrae and said he feels pretty good but will know more soon with upcoming doctors appointments.

Fortunately there is a lot more depth than last season, and the injuries are not as bad. The main thing is Zach could be out a little longer.

The concern of Zach's health is unsupported. Sure, Zach missed 1 season because of injuries. However, Zach has never had a serious potentially career threatening injury. Zach would be the perfect candidate if you want to gamble on the health of someone coming off injuries. And, if you are a more risk tolerant gambler, Giles is the perfect candidate.

So is Whiteside empty calories or can he still have an impact on the game?

There is no counter fraud in the NBA. He does rebound, block shots, and shoots a good FG%. On paper, he replaced Nurkic and then some. Except, we didn't win the games.

Can anyone confirm that hood’s second year is a team option? I saw hoopshype list it as unguaranteed but they’re not 100% usually.

I can confirm that Spotrac reports the 2nd year as fully unguaranteed.

He could be trade bait at the trade deadline.

Yeah he does things that look good, but he clearly doesnt do some things that result in winning because the team had a lot more trouble winning. I think if he was paired with some mobile and versatile defenders then he could work. He also looked pretty good at hitting 3s. I think he's been working on that.

He's known to pout and be ineffective if not starting, his numbers compare favorably to a prime Dwight Howard, it's mostly all the other stuff aside from those stats that seem to be done in a lackluster way that frustrate people.
