Interesting take by Raja that he mentioned on his podcast (because apparently every NBA player has a pod now) and then talked about again right at the top of the latest Bill Simmons Podcast.
Worth the listen, but Bell, who played with Kobe, said Dame is pretty much the same as Kobe in terms of how he approaches the game off and on the court, how he can take real or perceived slights and use those to elevate his game and how he thinks that extra motivation gear is actually more natural in Dame than with Kobe.
Anyway, great listen.

Re: Raja Bell: "Dame is the modern day Kobe Bryant"
I can imagine Skip ranting up a storm if this comes up on his show. Never mind that as far as scorers go Dame is one of the greatest of all time especially at his height. It's pretty incredible how well he plays against much bigger defenders I could only imagine if Dame had his skill and was the size of Durant or something.
Skip's latest rant against Lillard was hilarious, he scores 42 in the win yesterday on great efficiency and Skip goes after him for not scoring in the last 6ish minutes or so. It's almost like Skip is goading him so he can take credit if Lillard does the unthinkable and knocks the Lakers out.

Oh Jesus, don’t let this leak to the general board. They already think Dame is a poor mans Booker whose lucky to be playing basketball for a living.

Raja Bell is a 2x all defense journeyman that spent over a decade in the league who then transitioned into scouting.
Skip Bayless learned "sports journalism" from Rush Limbaugh.
And yet everyone seems more focused on the opinion of the latter...

I don't get your point. Bell is a former player and Bayless is a professional BS'er. They are both talking BS, and you are saying the basketball player has a better resume than the professional BS'er.

In this case, I think you're being rude to Limbaugh.

How is Raja a BSer? Guy is well articulated with a career of work validating his opinions.

I don't believe I have ever heard Raja. I didn't even know he had a podcast. In general, players can be as full of crap as anyone. I can give a 100 examples, my favorite is Bill Walton. There are 100 Bill Walton's for every 1 Steve Jones. The Van Gundy brothers are as knowledgeable and honest as gets, but even they are trying to entertain. Honest opinion isn't the objective.

The title is just huge click-bait. Didn't read it, but I do like the comparison, sorta. It's not that they have similar styles of play. It's more about Kobe's mental focus, or "Mamba mentality". It's what I've seen from very few players, ever, and I see it in Dame... Rocky Balboa mixed with Michael Jordan.
