I don't think so. Melo is better than all our SF's with the possible exception of RoCo. Still, Melo can't look at 3 new $10M per year contracts at his position and say, that's a good place for me.

Like, I don’t really see space for him...
Dame/Simons
CJ/GTj
Hood/JonesJr
RoCo/Collins
Kanter/Kanter
Maybe they think Collins is out for awhile?

I wouldn't mind seeing him come back. I wouldn't mind seeing Mildap signor the BAE, as well.

The money is really flowing. I did not expect non-max players to get so much money.

My desire for Melo becomes less and less as this night goes on; How much I want to spend on his services went from partial MLE days ago, to, I don't know if he's the best value for the BAE now. I'd still gladly take him back to play a Vince Carter like role for next few years, but my focus is on another PF/C and a PG.

It’s too bad rolo went for so much, I’d love to have had him back for the small exception but can’t blame him for taking 10 mil. Plus melo is probably a better use of that money anyhow and perhaps Hood resigned with us knowing something about melo that we don’t?

Hopefully CJ and Dame put Carmelo under house arrest in a wine cellar until he signs his contract and the whole thing gets tweeted/live streamed.

if carmelo starts for this team, im gonna kill myself
i guess we can use his scoring in the second unit, but if we go with 10 men rotation, who gets benched, hood or jones jr

Starting Melo as a token gesture is fine. Even him spreading the floor at the end of games has been proven to work. But when most players are healthy, if he gets more than 24 minutes a game - ideally less than that - then the Blazers are in trouble. But then that was how we landed Melo in the first place.

This is a reasonable response... lmao. /s
Honestly, who starts really means next to nothing in the NBA. It's all about the role. If he starts, I think it's fine.
All I care about at this point is this Blazers team is DEEP. They basically have the WCF's team back but replacing Aminu and Harkless with Melo and RoCo. If they can get a strong backup PG to Dame or if Simons can take a bit of a leap...
Dame/Simons
CJ/GTj/Hood
RoCo/Jones Jr/Hood
Melo/Collins/Jones Jr
Nurk/Kanter/Collins
That's a legit 10-11 man deep squad.
Like Quick said, not sure how this depth chart ends up shaking out. It's a good problem to have though being deeper than being weak. Plus we don't really know who's be healthy and ready to start the year - it's also kinda silly to assume everyone will be healthy all year anyway. Hood may be slow to start the season since it will have been over a year since he played, Collins may be out a bit to start the year too, not sure where his rehab is at and he's not been Mr. Durable over his career so far. Overall though, this is a much more balanced defensive team than what the Blazers rolled out last year and more athletic and deeper too.
I got no real complaints with this offseason so far. If they stay healthy, this could be a Top 4 team in the West imo.

Re: David Aldridge: Blazers still hopeful to bring back Melo
blazers, or should i say nurk, needs help on the defensive end of the floor and covington and collins/jones jr can provide that
we need to play nurk & collins together to develop chemistry between them, but unfortunately, for one reason or another, that wasnt possible so far... hopefully we get to see them play together this season

I'll be honest, I'm losing faith in Collins. Good kid and good potential, but he's really got some red flags from a health perspective...

The hole is at back-up PG.DusterBuster wrote:
I like some lineups where CJ/Simons play spot minutes at PG, but we do need an actual backup PG. One who plays defense and can facilitate would be ideal.

its a contract season for him and if he wants to get paid, well, hes gonna have to earn it
i dont think he has red flags regarding his health, to be fair, shoulder injuries arent really common, its like breaking a leg, its more like an accident, like **** happens... ankle injury is different, thats a common injury
i dont remember any other injuries, just those two
