Evan Turner - Boston Celtics Assistant Coach

Post#1 » by DaVoiceMaster » Mon Nov 30, 2020 7:01 pm

On the General Board Forum, there is a thread saying Turner is finalizing a deal to become an Assistant Coach with the Boston Celtics. I would have thought someone would sign him this year. I'm really surprised by this and kind of wish the Blazers had signed him as an Assistant Coach if that were the case. From what I've heard, he still owns his home in the West Hills here in Portland. The lights are always on when I drive past (can see his house from downtown as you get on the Sunset Hwy). That's too bad he's not playing any longer and really too bad the Blazers could not have added him to the coaching staff, just in case they need him to suit up later in the season.

Ya, I would have liked that addition as well. Great guy who has future coach written on him. It would never be a bad decision to add someone with his maturity, humor and personality to our player development team, especially given his young age and ability to relate to players. Really hoping for the best with him even though its not in Portland.

He might just be interested in pursuing a coaching career, I'm sure at least a few teams would have interest in him especially at the vet minimum.

He was a reasonably good player in Portland just not worth the contract we gave him.
