I have never watched the skills competition and don't know what it involves, but suspect Payton Pritchard would have been a good choice for the field.

It used to be a contest involving the better PG's in the game, but lack of interest required it to evolve and now we have forwards and centers involved. Back in the day, all of the top stars participated in all of the different challenges, particularly the slam dunk contest. It's too bad it has devolved into a bunch of no names competing.

Re: Blazers competing all-star weekend
Congrats to Simons. Honestly I think Rudy Fernandez had the best dunk as a Blazer, but then it took him like ten tries and it was painful to watch him miss dunk after dunk. Plus then he ended up losing to Crypto-Nate (see the new Superman in theaters) or Blake Griffin dunking over the quarter panel of a Kia or whatever the gimmick was that year. Glad the league is making it less of a paid commercial and more of an actual competition.

I mean at this point it seems like every event beyond the actual ASG has very little interest. We don't get the best dunkers competing in the Dunk contest, we sometimes don't have the best 3 point shooters in the 3 point contest.
It kinda blows my mind how much this has changed since the 80s and 90s when it felt like the big names would constantly battle it out to win these things.
