One game yes but what a contrast

It will be interesting how Powell plays with Dame.

if he plays anywhere close to this well i think we have to start him at the 3

It was just 1 game and Powell shot well. There will be games he doesn't shoot well. He looked good scoring around the basket. This is something we never got from GTJ.

Simons played well too.

If Powell plays like this, the Blazers definitely won the trade by a landslide. And frankly, it wasn't even that close. I did not realize he was a 4 year guy who has been in the league 5 years already. I really like his game.

Very nice to get a win with Dame resting, I am so happy to finally starting to see Dame realize he needs to take some games off in the regular season so he can really go all out in the playoffs.

What you saw tonight is who he's been in the regular season the past 2 years. I don't k own why Toronto traded him and I don't understand how other GM'S didn't trade a big haul for what he can provide, but you guys got a very very good player on your hands. Going to enjoy you watching you guys in the playoffs where Powell turns his game up a notch and always deliver incredible performances. Congrats

You guys took the Raptors behind the wood shed with that trade, trust me. Our management committed way too much money to the FVV/Siakam core and didn't want to get into the tax by retaining Norm. Just really poor asset management. Glad a good franchise like Portland was able to capitalize. Beats the hell out of going to LA

You have looked at Powell's stats right? for the yr basically 50% FG percentage and 43.9% from 3 (on volume), yeah everyone has lower percentage games but this guys has been consistent as hell

Both CJ and Dame could IMO take lessons from what I saw from Powell last night on shot selection/passing and not over dribbling

The return of the Nurk and Turk stat line. How many teams get 23 pts and 23 boards from the 5 position? Elite win pct when both play, too. That's the stat of the game IMHO.

This is why I think we should be considered a contender. Everything else is a wash (our terrible nightly defense usually neutralizes having such a dynamic backcourt)

But THIS, nobody has two starting quality veteran centers... and come playoff time when teams crack down more and actually play the game right, this is a huge competitive advantage over the course of a series..

I believe PDX is now 13-3 in games where Nurkic and Kanter both play (this goes back to Kanter's 2019 stint with Portland).

Frankly, I think that number is low from what I expect to see in the future. Obviously this is Nurk's first game back and he looks a bit out of shape so once he gets some games under his belt, I expect more from him and I wouldn't be surprised to see Nurk and Kanter putting up 30 pts & 25 boards combined.

Nurk was a little feisty last night. He needs to settle down just a bit. Was nice seeing the 3 go down though. Nurk could learn a few things offensively from Kanter and Kanter could learn a few things defensively from Nurk. I hope Kanter sticks around and the two can train together and learn from one another. That could be a really scary comgination.

Nurk was probably a little amped up to be back on the court, especially with how many games he has missed in the past 2 seasons.

I mean he has only played in 21 games over the past two seasons combined, I'm sure this has been pretty hard on Nurkic who before that point was pretty reliable overall.
