Not that I’m disappointed with Kidd passing on us, but he’s taking a interview with the magic of all places and didn’t give us the time of day? Does that strike anybody as odd? I mean there is essentially a bare cupboard in Orlando and they haven’t exactly been patient with their coaches there

I’d probably prefer Billups at this point just for something different but I’d assume we’d be entertaining with dantoni at the very least. I know hammon is getting some buzz but I don’t really see it to be honest, nothing against female coaches but where we are at with this team I don’t think that’s the answer for getting us over the hump

Not at all. Dame really never should have came out publicly like he did to talk about the coaching position. It put the team and the hiring process in a really rough spot as it could have caused other candidates the team might have liked more to turn them down for interviews, thinking that the search was predestined to end with Kidd. He turned them down not because of lack of interest, but because of the bad optics it would have caused and shadow his being in the process would have created.

There was also a pretty vocal group protesting the Blazes hiring a domestic abuser. Ironically, many of them still view Greg Oden fondly.

Why only one Van Gundy? Get Jeff also. Maybe there is another VanGundy to include. The VanGundy brothers as co-head coaches would make Lillard and McCollum not feel like a short backcourt, at the least (probably the most).

The Oden thing flew under the radar for a lot of people I think since it happened pretty late in his career and quite a bit after his time in the NBA iirc. It was kinda a story that came and went whereas Kidd's happened in the prime of his star career, so it was considerably more newsworthy.

Not to diminish either one or anything, just why I think some people may remember Kidd more than Oden. Bigger profile, bigger story.

Is it really benefical to get a head coach like Kidd, SVG or maybe Doc Rivers (or Budenholzer) who were not able to improve a team or have an positive impact at important moments (at least I do not think that Doc Rivers or Budenholzer will do so...)

I believe that I've shared here in the past that Brett Brown was my mentor in my formulatjve years.

Someone in l our social circle messaged me earlier and said that they had heard that Brett was getting an courtesy interview (didn't expect to get it, part of due process).

I heard some rumors that Dame really wasn't as gun ho about wanting Kidd as people think. So Kidd used that Dame statement to get more teams to have interest in him, since he either didn't want to coach here, or didn't want as high of pressure of situation as Portland.

This stuff is just funny. A coach is replaced because his teams don't get out of the first round of the playoffs sufficiently. Now we have pleas to get a coach whose team has not got out of the first round in the last 10 years ( four times not even getting to the playoff).

Wonder if they will interview Carlile...MDAT is the only candidate they've interviewed that even has head coaching experience. Carlile at least has won a championship.

Carlisle isn't even worth bringing in for an interview... A lateral hire at best. Olshey has several very tough decisions to make this off-season, and can't afford to be wrong on any of them. The coaching hire is the first big one, and he needs to exceed expectations a bit. I also want to believe that Jody will provide the needed funds to hire a great coaching staff.... Medical and Training Staff's too please, very important as well and we need the best available.

Are you serious here?! We are interviewing total unknowns in hammond and billups, Rick took two teams to the finals and coached the mavericks & absolutely maximized the talent on that team to win a championship. He would be a great hire and if we hire one of these unknowns while having a shot a rick i think we should all flip
