Trading Dame?
What do you think we could get for him if we pulled the trigger today?
Is a top 10 pick this year and a first next year + some filler unreasonable? What could we reasonably expect if God forbid we decided to go that route?
FYI Dame is the greatest Blazer EVER so spare me your hate... but I am curious.

I'm very confident sacramento would give you what you just asked for and a lot more. i bet they would give you fox, 4, and a future 1st.

Re: Trading Dame?
Its not in Portland's best interest to trade Dame this summer. The trade deadline after he's played in games and showed he's once again a top 10 player is the earliest he'll get traded.

Re: Trading Dame?
The question of If, and/or when to trade Dame will continue to haunt this franchise with the emergence of Simons, along with the extension chatter. Nurkic, I think is a factor as well, in deciding which direction this team wants to go. I honestly don't know where the organization stands on this either, adding that what gets said publicly, isn't always accurate. The Team's possible sale in the news, really adds an even further complication to all of this. Dame's possible departure, to me, might feel like the obvious comparison of Clyde going to the Rockets, with the emotion of Kobe's long, eventual retiring from the Lakers.
I'm glad you brought up this topic, and I like how you framed it. I believe the above values for Dame could be close, and I would like to emphasize that IMHO, I don't believe Dame's value will increase, nor will it return to a level that it was a year ago. Period.
With that, I personally would bite hard if we could get my earlier idea of something around Wall, Wood & #3, with a future first in 202?. I would also gift them Nurkic if desired.
Sacramento with their #4 (plus future picks) I would also bite on, IF, and only IF, one of the 3 Bigs fell in the draft.
My thinking is that I would consider trading Dame while his value is highest, which is NOW. I would chose to finish the reset of the team around Simons, #3(PFotf) and hopefully Williams from Duke(my fav). Three young studs like we had just a decade ago. Also considering we would still have good assets and financial flexibility going forward would make the "Sales Price" of the Blazers better.
This is where I see Dame's value. Picks at #4 and below don't interest me half as much, unless we can get our PFotf somehow at a pick beyond the top 3 THIS YEAR. Maybe HOU would have no interest in such a deal, but I also think HOU is totally un-built, so who knows. I do place value on Wood in such a deal. He has one year left (along with Wall), and is young and gifted. I would absolutely love to somehow roll this out next year:
Simons / Wall / Williams
Hart / (???)
Little / Winslow
Wood / Banchero(#3) / GB3
Nurkic / Williams(#7)
All other players like Keon, MAC, Watford etc. will be considered and likely retained, but ALL future assets would then be focused to upgrade (???). That's what I would try to do, if it where possible. JUST DO IT!

Re: Trading Dame?
If one of the bigs fell to #4 Fox+4+2 future picks is the type of package I consider..
Especially if I can find the right SF in a Fox deal....I actually like Fox, but want to turn the table on smallish offensive first backcourts...but I think Fox is better than he's shown consistently.

From Portland to Reno to Vegas to LA to SLC and on to HotLanta. Winning at life. Too Blessed to be Stressed

Re: Trading Dame?
Multiple prospects with at least one having all star upside and at least 5 combined picks and swaps. If that's what harden, holiday, Davis, PG etc can fetch then that's what Dame's price should be.
NYC would need to cough up Toppin, Barrett, Quickly, the 11th pick, 23 pick swap, 24 unprotected, 25 swap, 26 unprotected.
Simons/Quickly
Assuming Murray is gone either Sharpe or Daniels (7)/Keon
Barrett/Nas
Toppin/Watford
Sochan -Duren- Eason in order of preference(11)/Koloko(36)

Re: Trading Dame?
I have a feeling even if the Blazers think about trading Dame it doesn't come until the mid-point of this season or the off-season after next year.
He is still fairly young all things considered, and probably has a good 4-5 more years of being a very productive player. Sure his value is dropping every year slightly as he ages, but at 32 that still gives teams a reasonable window of having a very good player.

Re: Trading Dame
There is a real chance Banchero slips to 4 for it sure looks like the league wide interest in Ivey
is legit. It would be fascinating to see if the 195 frame of Holmgren causes him to slip to 4-5.

Re: Trading Dame?
the current Blazer ownership will not trade Dame...he's the cash cow that adds a lot of value to any franchise sale price
I'm pretty sure that if it came to it, neither the old owners or new owners would treat Dame so poorly as to trade him the the perpetual dumpster fire that is the Kings. That won't happen

Re: Trading Dame?
I remain in the keep Dame until he retires camp. Maybe I’m a pessimist, but I don’t see us making moves with or without Dame that leads to a championship in the next 5 years, so I’d rather go for the realistic goal of finally having a star player for the entirety of their career. In over 50 years, Portland has never had that guy that was a Blazer lifer. I think treating a loyal star well also sends a good message to future stars that we won’t ship them out simply because they approach the tail end of their career.

It might not be Portland's decision to trade but Dame's decision to chase a title for just imagine Dame in
Milwaukee next to Giannis.
It's going to take a lot of hard work to build a real playoff contender in Portland. Those quick fix plans almost
never work (Boston is the exception) and its going to take 3 years of drafting lottery talent before a team
that is assembled is ready to win again. It would be great if Dame was willing to be that shepherd for the
next generation of Blazers but understandable if the guy wants to play with his level of player and not be
a part of a rebuild.
I just don't think Portland has the assets to really build a team to win with Dame in 22/23. Guys like Jerami
Grant, John Collins and even OG are good players but hardly an elite type of talent. I'd hate to give out a
max contract to Ayton given he had problems with a good guy in Monte Williams. Portland might get 1-2
of those guys but would they be really competitive with the upper tier teams in Western Conference in a
7 game playoff series?

Not a fan of Ayton, at any cost really. Would rather have Nurkic and IMHO, Willams from Duke by year 2 > Ayton without the "Point-God" CP3. OG just seems like a slightly better version of M.Harkless to me; A role player at best. I'm really tired of hearing about who Dame would like to have on the team. Definitely not making the GMs job easy, and should keep the teams' decisions on possible targets, quiet.

People really like to talk about what Dame wants and what dame says but i never see any quotes about that stuff or any credible sources and when he has something to say, he’s not shy about saying it. So I’m really tired of people saying he wants another 50 million a year extension and that he wants Ayton etc. If he wanted these things he would say it, there’s literally nothing in his history in Portland that refutes that. People need to understand what click bait is.

Re: Trading Dame?
Yeah sadly I think somebody from the front office needs to do a sit down chat with Dame and say hey HERE is where we are and how do you want this to go, because we can't build you a winner while you are still Dame.
It's a new day and the past is the past BUT this is where we are, how do you want to proceed? Do you want to stay or are you open to chasing a ring somewhere else? Try to get creative because good teams don't have the assets we need, maybe involve a 3rd team to get something that works for all parties involved. That way hopefully there is no bitterness or hard feelings its just business.
Maybe that's been done already but in this day it seems like everything leaks. Portland is in a bad spot as free agents just don't come here and the only way we have historically gotten better is via the draft. Players may not be initially happy to come here but many seem to like it once they get here.
It really sucks but if we can kinda make it a win win situation it could possibly work out. Nothing I have seen is really a good long term idea IMHO but the draft. Stockpile some assets between this year and next and shoot for the moon, get players that Chauncey feels we can win with and watch them grow.

He says he wants to stay nearly everytime he's interviewed and he talks to Joe Cronin everyday. What are you talking about? The scenarios you are describing are just fantasies.

I think he was saying that the FO should make it clear to Dame that the route to turning this team into a contender isnt likely even if given 3 years and is near impossible to do in a single offseason. Ensure Dame realizes that by the time we have decent pieces around him he may be pretty old, and even then its not a guarantee.
That being said even if Dame wants to move on due to the above, trading him now while his value is at an all time low is nuts. You wait for him to prove health.

Sorry Dame I did not realize it was you. So have they ever asked you about a trade? Are there teams you might be interested in playing for? Is there a move you want the front office to try and make? So you really want an extension or are you happy just playing out your contract? Who do you like in the draft? Who would you like us to target? Do you think you can co exist in the same backcourt with Ant? Do you want us to trade him? Did you use autotune on your rap songs? Do you like the Avalanche over the lightning for the Stanley cup?

Busted.
First of all, no they haven't asked me about a trade. My heart is and always will be in Portland, which I thought I've made clear. I'm committed to winning here. I think we have a great coach and I've bought in on their vision of having a high tempo offense and acquiring long, high motor forwards on defense. I think I can co exist with Ant but at the end of the day it's a business and if Portland decided to pair me with a bigger 3/D guard because it fits coaches vision then it is what it is. I'm not really a musician, I'm an artist, so I use whatever I need too. Sorry, I like boxing and everything but I'm not into hockey.
