OG Anunoby Poll

Post#1 » by monopoman » Thu Jun 23, 2022 6:19 am

Which would you prefer for OG Anunoby?

It appears there is very small chance that Eric Bledsoe is going to be around after this off-season so I am just using him as the most likely salary filler.

I personally think OG would be great assuming the price is right, he is about the same age as Simons and likely will improve.

I'm in the "trade Dame" camp, but that clearly isn't happening, and shouldn't until his value is rehabbed. So there for I'm voting Yes to OG.

The nice thing about OG is he is the same age as Simons so you could view the trade as helping the future as much as helping now.

I don't think we have the assets to pull off a trade for him. I wouldn't mind him at all but it's not worth selling your soul.

Masai probably wants the 7th, Nas, Hart, Keon, and multiple seconds. The guy doesn't lose trades.

I am just throwing out the more reasonable trade, maybe Masai asks for the moon and the Blazers FO tells him to go **** himself. I also have noted that GM's that have this "I always win trades by a landslide!" mentality end up having trouble finding trade partners as time passes.

Other GM's start to resent their attitude and they can find very few teams even willing to give them the time of day if they know they are going to ask for a ton if any team dares to ask for one of their players. A similar case would be trading say collectible cards, if you know a guy that always has to win every trade by a mile odds are you steer clear of him when trading.

I also want to put up a reasonable trade because if I put up that one more Blazer fans would be like "Hell no!".

I don’t want to “throw in” Hart or Nas. Either the 7th and filler for these potl disgruntled fits or not. Blazers can’t afford to give up anything more and must win some trades and hold their ground.

OG is awesome. One of those silent but deadly sort of players. His defense is great and his offense has progressed. He's still 'two left feet' at times.

The only concern is Games Played. He always seems to be out with something. A lot of that is just bad luck tbh.

7 and Eric is the most we should offer. Not adding anything more, that’s fair IMO.

Raptors dont want Bledsoe. Considering we were 31-17 with OG and 17-17 without, thats like asking us to mail in the year essentially. So far it seems like all the leaks are from the Portland side and i suspect the standing offer is Hart/filler/7.

Moving Hart and 7 is just too much for me. And IMO Chauncey won’t part w/ Hart, he is a total fit for what Billups wants on the floor, a new Detroit 2004 type squad.

I think that's about right. Hart/filler/#7 sounds about fair. I'd be on board.

I think Blazer fans need to come to terms with Bledsoe likely being waived. He's primarily just killing value in any deal he's in.

I would not trade Hart for OG. I would trade Little + Bledsoe + 7 for OG, but I do it begrudgingly. I would rather use an asset like Keon, 7, Bledsoe, and someone like GB3 if that interested the Raptors. They have a lot of roster spots to fill with a lot of UFAs.

Could Daniels be a poor man's OG? Much better contract situation and we turn to someone else to fill out the roster that can help us win using what assets we have left. You could try and get back into the draft via the Hayward route? Maybe? No?

I think in the end, Portland simply uses the pick themselves for Toronto doesn't have to trade
him and the player Toronto might pick if they did an OG trade, is there for Portland.

In the end, Hart + 7 is more valuable than OG if that's what Portland is offering.

I think Hart is consistently undervalued. IMO 7 is an overpay to bridge the gap between Hart and OG.

Give me Hayward (And a pick) in a salary dump deal or just sign Kyle Anderson. I think we should keep 7.

theres no way i would trade hart +7.
even in sample size, hart did a good job last year plus i would be hesitant on most players who have a hard time staying healthy
also i would rather have someone on a rookie contract.

It depends on the goal and who is available at 7.

If the goal is one more deep playoff run for Dame, I absolutely trade Hart and 7 for OG. I like Josh Hart as a player, but he just doesn't have the size/strength to help POR match up against the big wings in the West. OG is 2.5" taller, weighs 25 lb. more and has a 6" greater standing reach. He has the size and defensive chops to guard the LeBrons, Kawhis, PG13s and Lukas in the West. Josh Hart does not. OG also has the ability to guard both bigger and smaller players.

The forward spots have been POR's Achille's heel ever since Aldridge left and Batum was traded. POR needs above average 3 and D players at both forward spots to make up for the poor defense at the guard spots. OG gives them that.

If the goal is to focus on the long term future, just keep the pick draft BPA at 7 (likely Sharpe) and hope he develops into something special. Josh Hart is a nice player, but I do not consider him valuable enough, short term, or long term, to pass on getting OG Anunoby. OG is also 2.5 years younger than Josh. He's a better fit now, but also young enough to be a piece POR builds around post Dame.

If it does take Hart and 7, hope we target someone like Bruce Brown JR or Gary Harris w/ the TP MLE - we need a defensive guard to compliment Dame / Ant. Maybe the FO thinks Keon can be that guy, in which case you hedge and sign a VM guy like Avery Bradley, Damion Lee, Elf Payton in case Keon doesnt take the step.

Still, would hate to lose Josh - love the way he plays. Really would sting. And not convinced it would be worth it w/ 7.

We dont have that many roster spots actually. Right now we are at 10 or 11 contracts (banton will be back, brooks maybe) and hope to bring back young and boucher. that brings us to 13. Add on MLE and #33 and we're near the limit
