Matisse Thybulle would be a great pick-up if the asking price is reasonable.
Not sure what the asking price would be, but if it's #7+Covington TPE for #17+Thybulle, that seems a bit rich.
Better fit than trading down for #12+Dort.

I think Thybulle will have a good deal less value if moved than getting up to 7 from 17.
I would for sure want 26 from HOU as well. I could live with 7 and TPE for Thybulle, 17 and 26.
Matisse is so bad on offense that IMO he tops out as a bit player in a 25mpg type role, its 4-5 when your on offense when he is out there. I think that negates his tremendous defense to an extent.

Yeah, if the blazers HAVE to trade #7 for one of those two deals, I'd take 17 and Thybulle over #12 and Dort in a heartbeat.

No kidding probably just Thybulle for the TPE so they get cap savings

I can see TPE, 46 and 2 future SRP or something. Again, you cant play a guy like him late in the game with his offensive ineptitude, unless your subbing him in and out for defense / offense. I like him, but he is a bit player, basically a specialist.
Then again, maybe a change of scenery gets him back to his rookie 3PT shooting numbers - not sure why it would though lol

I think that Thybulle has more value than people realize. Guy is a 2nd team all NBA defense player. The 4-on-5 on offense is true. But nobody seems to mind offensive minded players that cause 4-on-5 on defense.
That said, the claim that Portland was trying to deal with Philadelphia directly and the 76ers wanted to include Houston is a bit concerning. The Blazers would either have to offer a younger player like Naz/Keon, or use the #7 at which point they would have to move down to #23. I'd be fine trading Keon as I am not as high on him as other Blazer fans are. But moving down that far or including Naz or even GB3 (who I am high on) seems like either an overpay or a lateral move.
Of course, I was and remain a huge RHJ fan. No idea why we don't just sign him for a vet minimum.

Never will understand why he isnt a rostered player somewhere - knows his role, plays hard, good defense. Would love to bring him back as a 3rd stringer.
Winslow is pretty similar (Well, much better passing) and he makes 4M per while RHJ is home fishing, just odd.
Also think we move Greg before Keon. I think Johnson was the prize of the LAC trade and that Chauncey and Cronin specifically wanted him - he was a near concensus top-10 talent going into the draft FWIW. GB is from the NO tenure, think he will be seen as more expendable (As he should be, I see him as a dime a dozen bouncy tall guy who can easily be replaced by someone like Jabari Walker at 46, maybe even 57)

I do not deny that I have greatly desired this.

Yes! Late in the 4th in a close game, you put him in for a stop, then call a timeout and sub him. Instead, the Blazers would run out a trio of Dame/CJ/Powell and act astonished when nobody could lock down a guard or wing.

Very likely true, but I'm a GB3 fan and would rather move Keon - especially given the lack of forward depth on the team. The only reason GB3 wasn't taken earlier last year was because of how deep the 2021 draft class was - although you could make the same case for Keon.

Is it possible to end up with both OG and Thybulle?

Toronto would have to be really high on someone at #7 and Portland would likely have to route 1 or 2 prospects to Houston (via Philly). Don't see it happening. If anything, the Blazers interested in Thybulle leak is to put pressure on the team for whoever the Blazers do make a move for.

is it possible that Thybulle's #'S were low was the lack of a good pg since simmons didnt play and harden was out for his own #'s ?
either way i think billups is going to have this team up and playing some good defense this year.

Don't forget that Thybulle is in the last year of his rookie contract so he will need to be re-signed and will almost certainly be expecting a raise.

Not a single poster has said that Thybulle was worth #7. The question is whether he is worth moving down from #7 and using the Covington TPE for.

If the massive turnover of our roster every year is any indication, this is a non-issue. Accumulate as much talent as you can, then retain the talent worth retaining.

Another expiring contract on a guy who can't shoot.
One wonder what Emblid thought when Thybulle and Simmons were on the court with him.

I am all about grabbing talent but Thybulle is a defensive specialist who can't shoot and I have him as being a bit light to guard sf's on a regular basis and that means a large part of his minutes will need to come at guard where we are pretty well set already. Just wouldn't give up a lot for him.
